About the Role
ANZ has established a new EU banking subsidiary in Paris to support our European growth strategy. This new entity will provide EU clients with access to ANZ’s international markets, trade, and corporate finance capabilities, operating alongside our existing offices in London, Paris, and Frankfurt.
We are seeking a Financial Controller for the subsidiary to help build a new bank from the ground up. You will be responsible for oversight of Month End Close, External Financial Reporting and Audit, Tax Accounting and Compliance, and Financial Governance. You will be supported by a production team based in Manila, enabling you to focus on oversight, review & analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

What will your day look like?
As a Financial Controller, ANZ Europe S.A you will;
- Lead the financial control framework for ANZ Europe S.A., ensuring strong governance, risk management and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee month-end and quarter-end financial close activities, balance sheet governance, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Review and challenge financial outputs prepared by ANZ's Group Capability Centre in Manila, ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to control standards.
- Lead statutory reporting activities, including preparation and filing of annual financial statements and related disclosures.
- Review and approve finance-related regulatory reporting submissions and ensure alignment between regulatory reporting, statutory reporting and the general ledger.
- Act as the primary relationship manager for external auditors, coordinating audit planning, delivery and issue resolution.
- Own the tax accounting framework, including tax provisioning, deferred tax accounting and governance of routine tax compliance activities.
- Produce management reporting and financial analysis to support senior management, governance committees and Board reporting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, governance and documentation.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, regulatory obligations and business growth.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Chartered Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent) qualification.
- Significant experience in financial control, financial reporting, external audit, tax or finance within a banking or financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial statement preparation and financial control frameworks.
- A solid understanding of risk management, governance and internal control requirements within a regulated environment.
- Experience managing relationships with auditors, regulators, tax advisers and other key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, assess risks and drive effective remediation outcomes.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to provide constructive challenge to senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight reporting and regulatory deadlines.
- Experience preparing, reviewing or overseeing statutory and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Familiarity with tax accounting, deferred tax calculations and corporate tax compliance processes.
- Experience working with finance systems such as Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), PeopleSoft General Ledger (PSGL) or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of French banking, accounting, tax or regulatory reporting requirements and French language capability will be advantageous due to the role's interaction with French regulators, tax authorities and stakeholders.
- Experience working within multinational organisations and overseeing shared service or outsourced finance activities will be advantageous.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is EUR 80 000 - 90 000 annual
This range is determined by the job, location and level of expertise required for this specific role. The final salary offered will consider your capabilities, skills and knowledge.
