Mō te tūranga - About the role
At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive. We’re making this happen by improving the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our customers so they can achieve incredible things– whether they’re buying a home, building a business or saving for things big or small.
We’re looking for a deeply experienced Solution Architect to lead a high-impact initiative focused on payments design. You’ll be stepping into a hands-on leadership role, guiding a small team of subject matter experts and working closely with stakeholders across the business. With a tight delivery timeframe and a steering board milestone set for December, your ability to collaborate, influence and deliver will be key to shaping the proposed way forward.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in payments and experience in the finance sector. You’ll be actively involved in planning, stakeholder engagement and delivery, with much of the solution to be built on Google Cloud Platform. You won’t just be setting direction – you’ll be on the tools, contributing directly to the work and helping the team succeed through both technical expertise and people leadership.
Role Location: This role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington. Let us know what works for you.
Role Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Standard)
Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
You will be responsible for:
- Lead the design of end-to-end payments solutions that align with enterprise architecture and business strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business, engineering, and vendor teams to ensure data solutions are robust, compliant, and future-ready.
- Utilise, develop and maintain architectural patterns and reusable components for data integration, analytics, and reporting.
- Provide architectural oversight and guidance across delivery teams, ensuring alignment with ANZ’s data strategy and governance frameworks.
- Contribute to the evolution of ANZ’s technology roadmap, particularly in the areas of data platforms, cloud adoption, and advanced analytics.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:
- Proven experience in solution architecture with a focus on payment design.
- Familiarity of and participated in the use of architecture models, frameworks and practices (e.g. BIAN, TOGAF).
- Strong grasp of data governance, security, and compliance principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to mentor and uplift others in the architecture community.
You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills. At ANZ a growth mindset is at the heart of our culture, so if you have most of these things in your toolbox, we’d love to hear from you.
