Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer in Business Process Automation, you will play a key role in strengthening our engineering standards and helping the team deliver high-quality automation outcomes. You will bring technical leadership to everyday delivery, supporting consistent ways of working, uplifting best practice, and helping the team make thoughtful decisions that keep our platforms reliable, secure and maintainable.
You will act as the technical lead for a group of highly experienced, passionate automation engineers, partnering closely with project teams to design and build solutions that meet ANZ standards. This role is hands-on role that offers the opportunity to contribute to ANZ’s agile journey while working in the complex and rewarding space of business process automation.

You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the end-to-end asset lifecycle of the platform, ensuring it remains stable, well supported and fit for purpose.
- Embedding clear technical governance and quality standards, and supporting consistent alignment with ANZ risk expectations.
- Building and strengthening development standards and best practice, helping quality and consistency thrive across the platform.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives through automation, DevOps and Agile ways of working.
- Creating strong, trusted two way relationships with platform leads, engineers, business partners and vendors.
- Getting involved early in discovery and solution design for new initiatives and product features.
- Bringing the team together to brainstorm, collaborate and make sound technical decisions.
- Influencing outcomes with calm, thoughtful leadership, balancing delivery momentum with long term platform health.

To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:
- Strong experience leading by example through hands on .NET software development.
- Confidence designing and delivering business process automation solutions.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and peers.
- Experience supporting others through code reviews and coaching.
- Comfort working with a high level of autonomy on technical decisions.
- Capability to design and support applications with a focus on stability, maintainability and CI/CD.
- A collaborative approach when working with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders.
- A continuous improvement mindset and desire to strengthen team delivery practices.
