This is an exciting opportunity to join ANZ’s Payments Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, which plays a critical role in building, evolving, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Payments Engineering Delivery Platform. The SRE chapter operates as an autonomous unit while collaborating closely with build and run squads across ANZ.
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll be a senior technical specialist focused on the reliability, performance and compliance of Payments Engineering Delivery Platform across hybrid, and cloud environments. You’ll work hands-on with modern cloud technologies, Kubernetes, IaC and CI/CD pipeline while influencing best practices, and driving automation and observability in platform operations.

Hours: Standard 37.5 hours per week
Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like
Your day will be a mix of proactive engineering, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous improvement. You’ll apply SRE principles to build, automate and scale platforms, embedding security and compliance controls, and ensuring services are resilient, observable, and customer-focused. You’ll collaborate with developers, database engineers, Cloud engineers and security teams to maintain high availability and performance across our systems, while contributing to incident response and recovery planning.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Proven hands-on experience in Cloud Services ideally within GCP/AWS
- Kubernetes experience and container orchestration expertise.
- Have solid hands-on experience with Terraform, GitOps, GitHub automation workflows, orchestration tools, and establishing CI/CD pipelines for Cloud.
- Experience with observability tools such as Cloud monitoring and logging, Splunk, Dynatrace
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs/SLOs, incident response, and observability.
- Interest in AI-driven engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, being able to communicate at all levels.
- Self-managing and a self-starter.
