Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Senior Design Researcher in our Customer Experience and Design COE, you’ll play a key role in taking a lead in understanding the behaviour, needs and motivations of our customers to create actionable insights that contribute to beautiful user experiences. Using your human centred design expertise, you lead activities focused on defining problems, facilitating research and experimentation approaches, analysis and sharing insights. You lead and bring key stakeholders and other team members on the journey with you through facilitation and alignment activities.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai - What will your day look like

  • Be an advocate for the customer voice and proactively contribute to the use of Human Centred Design practice across projects and initiatives. 
  • Develop and lead a wide range of research and user engagement approaches, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, that lead to timely, actionable insights. 
  • Actively manage engagement with key stakeholders and teams to ensure that research insights are valued and inform project direction.
  • Collaboratively synthesise research findings and create or support the development of outputs that make user behaviours, needs and motivations visible e.g. customer journey maps, personas.
  • Advocate for and apply ethical and inclusive design principles in research design.
  • Follow, and contribute to, agreed research and user testing framework and workflow to maintain good documentation of findings, decisions, and outputs.
  • Contribute to, and advocate for, the team’s ethical and inclusive standards of practice
  • Provide UX research best practice advice as required
  • Collaborate across portfolio, product and marketing teams to build relationships and generate value.
  • Advocate for a customer focus through design thinking, inclusivity and a data-driven culture within teams.
  • Actively engage in the design community within ANZ to shape a great learning and collaborative culture

Ōu Pūkenga - What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • You have incorporated customer insights into the design and delivery of successful digital experiences. You have knowledge of technologies and consumer digital trends
  • Many years’ experience leading user experience research projects
  • Strong expertise in a wide range of user experience research techniques  - including conducting ethnographic research, analysis, surveys, analytics, facilitating & user testing – and good knowledge of researching inclusively and ethically.
  • Highly proficient in project planning, communication and presentation, including an aptitude for convincing others of the value of their ideas
  • Experienced practitioner in applying design thinking to solve complex customer and business problems
  • Is fascinated with how users experience products and services and has a hunger to improve those experiences.
