Mō te tūranga - About the role
This role is responsible for delivery of data solutions for the Data and Corporate Centre (DACC) team within the Nga Tapuwae program of work. The role will work collaboratively with our Enabling Capabilities, Delivery Partners, Data team, and other stakeholders to achieve Nga Tapuwae business outcomes. As a senior technical data developer, the role will be responsible for implementing end to end data solutions, applying SAS and SQL expertise to deliver effective, customer-focused solutions.
This role has a strong emphasis on building out interim or prototype data solutions ahead of strategic enterprise solutions. This means working with new and existing data sources to understand how best to achieve the outcomes required strategically. Data discovery, data design, estimation, and general data support will be on your task list. Other areas of focus will be the careful documentation of your data work and using enterprise tooling to ensure version control and transparency.
Role Location: This role is based in Wellington
Role Type: 12-month secondment / fixed-term
Hours: Standard 37.5 hours

You will be responsible for:
- Work as a Senior developer in a project team (oversight of technical solution)
- Contribute to the design and implementation of technical solutions that support business and customer outcomes
- Provide technical leadership for our customers and stakeholders
- Requires strong business and stakeholder management skills.
Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?
To thrive and excel in this role, you should ideally possess the following:
- Advanced data extraction, manipulation and automation using SAS and Teradata SQL.
- 5+ years of experience in developing end-to-end business intelligence or data solutions.
- Experience using tools such as Tableau or Python (not essential).
- Experience with developing actionable insights and recommendations on data.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to translate technical into non-technical for presentation to all stakeholders.
- Extensive experience working within cross-functional, agile or continuous delivery teams.
- A growth mindset and desire to continually learn and share new techniques and ideas.
