Mō te tūranga - About the role
As a Senior Business Analyst in the Proactive Risk Manager (PRM) NZ Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the bank’s fraud detection and prevention services.
Our team is responsible for supporting, upgrading PRM which is a third-party comprehensive fraud detection solution to help card issuers, merchants, acquirers and financial institutions combat fraud schemes. From strategic user-defined rules to powerful neural network technology using custom modelling techniques. Additionally, we manage various other tools used for notifying and information sharing to detect and prevent transaction fraud. There will be opportunities to work within the ATM area also, supporting a UI uplift, and future ATM upgrades.
In this role, you will liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to elicit, analyse, communicate, and validate business requirements. You will work with both our delivery team and external vendor to build excellent solutions. You will also work with the production support team to analyse and rectify production issues.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for fraud transactions, and dependent systems.
- Analyse and translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements, working closely with development teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
- Taking the initiative: pro-actively identifying gaps, opportunities or potential issues within the technology and business areas, promoting the change
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including use cases, process flows, data models, and story maps.
- Assist with the review and updates to application compliance documentation e.g. Disaster Recovery, Solution Intents, System Support Documents, IAM, etc.
- Support all stages of testing to ensure solutions meet business needs.
- Provide expertise and guidance on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and the New Zealand domestic card and digital transaction processing landscape and transaction fraud.
- Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and external vendors.
- Assist in production incident resolution and problem management, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues to minimize impact on business operations.
- Working in a cross-functional team, taking on a variety of analyst roles, and have the ability to flex between business and technical analysis

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Technology Business Analyst, preferably in in the Cards Payment industry
- Strong understanding of authorisation and processing of bank transactions and preferably fraud detection and prevention
- Good knowledge of the New Zealand domestic card and digital transaction processing landscape
- Experience in data management for transaction processing, including data integrity, security, and compliance
- Experience in incident resolution and problem management
- Proficiency in business analysis tools and methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience in Agile and SDLC methods and techniques
- Experience in requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, requirements management
