Mō te tūranga – About the role
As a Lawyer in our Funds Management Legal Team, you’ll provide high‑quality legal advice and support to ANZ New Zealand’s Funds Management business. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel – Funds Management, you’ll play an important role in enabling the business to achieve its objectives while appropriately managing legal risk.
You’ll support a complex and evolving area, ensuring legal advice is timely, practical, commercially sound, and customer‑focused.

Role Location: Auckland or Wellington (open to other locations within New Zealand)
Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? – What will your day look like
You’ll support the Funds Management business as a trusted adviser, helping ensure legal risks are understood, managed, and appropriately mitigated.
Your day‑to‑day will include:
- Providing quality, timely, and commercially appropriate legal advice and support to the Funds Management business, including advisory support for ANZ’s KiwiSaver schemes and other investment products
- Identifying, anticipating, and mitigating legal and regulatory risks, including the impact of changes in law and regulation
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documentation
- Building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across Funds Management and the wider ANZ business
- Supporting appropriate governance and decision‑making consistent with ANZ’s values, policies, and risk appetite
- Contributing to a customer‑centric culture, ensuring customers remain at the centre of what we do and that we treat customers fairly
Ōu Pūkenga? – What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- Experience advising on investment products and services, including knowledge of the Financial Markets Conduct Act and related regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice to a range of stakeholders
- Proven problem‑solving capability, with a solutions‑focused and commercially minded approach
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence, and collaborate effectively across teams and organisational levels
- Experience drafting and reviewing contracts
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a current New Zealand practising certificate
