Kia Hanga I Te Ao, E Ora Ai, E Tupu Ai, Te Tangata Me Te Kainga. At ANZ, we’re shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

Mō te tūranga - About the role

ANZ is undergoing a significant multi-year technological transformation. At the heart of this transformation is the modernisation of the core banking platform. We’re looking for a talented Data Modeller to design, develop and maintain the logical data models that underpin ANZ’s enterprise data and integration architecture. You’ll ensure structures align to business requirements, comply with governance and security standards, and are fit for purpose within modern architecture frameworks - future proofing ANZ’s data landscape to enable AI readiness and support delivery of data as a product.

Role Location: This role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington.  Let us know what works for you.

Role Type: 12-month Secondment / Fixed Term

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Standard)

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like

As a Data Modeller in the enterprise architecture practice, you will:

  • Model the business: Create reusable, scalable logical models that reflect business concepts, relationships and requirements.
  • Align to enterprise architecture: Partner with Enterprise Architects, Engineers and Analysts to ensure models fit architectural principles, patterns and engineered implementations; support integration with consistent data definitions across systems.
  • Enable AI & analytics: Provide logical structures that support analytics, machine learning and AI initiatives; design for semantic clarity and interoperability across platforms.
  • Governance & standards: Embed internal data governance, regulatory requirements, naming conventions, metadata management and data lineage best practices.
  • Engage stakeholders: Facilitate model walkthroughs and conversations to validate and refine designs with business stakeholders.

Ōu Pūkenga? - What will you bring?

You’re an enterprise thinker with a passion for information and a knack for simplifying complexity. You bring:

  • Extensive experience across data modelling techniques - logical, physical, dimensional and ontology‑based approaches.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with modelling platforms (e.g. ER/Studio, Sparx EA, PowerDesigner) supporting enterprise architecture, metadata and governance.
  • Familiarity with metadata‑driven orchestration, API and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams on complex, multi‑disciplinary delivery.

It would be an added bonus if you have:

  • Hands‑on experience with Agile, DevOps and iterative development.
  • Advanced query techniques for analysis and reporting
  • Semantic modelling (ontology, knowledge graphs) for AI‑ready architectures.
  • Mentoring experience and knowledge sharing.
  • Application of banking/financial data standards.
  • Relevant industry certifications in data modelling (e.g. BIAN).
