At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive and to achieve this, we need a talented Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Business Intelligence team, whose purpose is to deeply understand the power of data to generate quality customer outcomes, manage information and identify trends to accelerate capability and enable sound business decisions.

Hours: STandard 37.5 hours per week.

Ka aha tō rā e kite ai? - What will your day look like

As a Data Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Work in agile, cross‑functional teams with other data engineers, BAs, testers and product owners to translate business requirements into well‑designed data warehouse models.
  • Assist in designing and developing dimensional data models that support reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Support ETL and data transformation activities, helping move data from source systems into curated data warehouse layers with a focus on data quality and consistency.
  • Learn how ANZ products and business processes work, applying this knowledge to ensure data structures accurately reflect business meaning.
  • Collaborate with developers and analyst to ensure data models are fit for purpose and enable reliable insights.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 

 

  • Around 2+ years’ experience contributing to end‑to‑end business intelligence.
  • A solid foundation in ETL processes, data modelling concepts, and BI architectures, with a desire to deepen your technical capability over time.
  • Experience working with analytics and data warehousing platforms, including ETL tools such as SSIS, WhereScape RED, or similar technologies.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think analytically, break down complex data problems, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage priorities, set achievable goals and deliver work to agreed timelines in a dynamic, agile environment.
  • Confidence to constructively challenge existing processes, paired with an openness to feedback and a continuous improvement mindset.
