About the Role
As Head of Credit Risk in our ANZ India Branch, you will play a key role in delivering credit risk management through the activities outlined below with a view of mitigating material credit losses:
- Supporting the branch’s growth objectives as per agreed asset writing strategy / Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) / Sector Transaction Guidelines (STGs) / Product Transaction Guidelines (PTGs).
- Ensuring the credit quality of the portfolio is maintained to established risk appetite.
- Ensuring credit policies of ANZ Group and regulatory expectations of RBI are understood, embedded and adhered to.
- Driving consistency in our credit risk approach across International through increased collaboration and sharing of best practices

What will your day look like?
As the Head of Credit Risk, you are accountable for:
- Exercise of credit authority to India customers in accordance with Group and local credit approval frameworks, and granted authority level, including recommending to senior CAD holders for cases beyond delegated authority.
- Monitoring of the credit risk environment and early identification of potential risks.
- Coordinating tighter measures for high-risk customers including more robust early identification triggers.
- Remaining attuned to business initiatives to assist with speed to market and improve customer satisfaction.
- Championing compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to credit risk.

In a typical day, you will be involved in activities such as the following:
- Processing credit submissions, i.e. approving annual reviews and/or new limits within delegated authority and/or recommending to senior stakeholders where limits require higher delegated authorities, approving changes to terms & conditions, and approving risk grade reviews or monitoring Diary Notes.
- Engaging with the Business to discuss transaction pipeline, aid with structuring solutions that adhere to our risk appetite, and communicating/taking feedback from regional stakeholders where required.
- Partnering with the Business in Portfolio Management and the execution of portfolio reviews.
- Participating in Well-Managed forums to ensure no lapses in monitoring/covenant tracking and providing feedback to Business/Lending Operations to improve credit-related processes.
- Participating in Early Alert Forums and ensuring strategies and milestones for high-risk customers are well-identified.
- Assisting with internal (GCA) and external (RBI) review of the credit portfolio and supporting processes as required.
- Updating governance procedures in response to changes in regulations and business requirements, as required.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Extensive experience in corporate credit
- Strong knowledge of corporate banking products (loans, structured finance, trade, derivatives, etc.), including structuring and documentation/negotiation
- Solid background in credit risk, including financial analysis and portfolio management; preferably with exposure to large-scale transactions
- Ability to make time-sensitive credit decisions
- Strong commercial judgment, communication skills, and stakeholder management
- In-depth understanding of the India regulatory landscape related to credit risk management
- Knowledge of legal, operational, and compliance/regulatory risk frameworks, or the learning agility to adapt to other risk disciplines in credit decision-making
- Ability to leverage industry networks effectively
- Financial analysis expertise with strong business acumen and commercial judgment
- Leadership and influencing skills
- Master’s degree in Finance, MBA, or equivalent
