About the Role

 

The Chief Technology & Operations Officer (CTOO) is responsible for managing all operational and technology aspects of ANZ in-country, ensuring efficient operations, risk and compliance controls, and strong customer service.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Managing all operational aspects of ANZ in-country, including transaction processing, quality assurance, business excellence, business management, technology, property, sourcing, and administration functions.
  • Documenting and transforming branch end-to-end processes to align with ANZ’s global Digital Operations.
  • Enhancing customer service and commercial insights by unlocking the value of Operations’ data and digital backbone.
  • Ensuring provision and operation of scalable, cost-effective, secure, and up-to-date infrastructure platforms that meet ANZ’s business requirements.
  • Driving customer satisfaction across all products and maintaining key service metrics.
  • Ensuring effective risk and compliance management as the first line of defence.
  • Providing local management oversight on technology strategy and digital capability delivery to align with enterprise and divisional objectives.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Timely preparation and submission of accurate strategic plans, operating and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Ensure effective cost management including the development and execution of cost control and/or cost reduction initiatives.
  • Management of the Operations and Technology function with Country and Product level key financial dimensions, including development and maintenance of Technology financial forecast
  • Work within Product and Divisional Strategies for planning, management analysis and execution.
  • Ensure infrastructure assets are lifecycle managed with investment planned to minimise business risk.
  • Develop and deliver platform optimisation opportunities to minimise costs. Technology asset tracking
  • Improve customer service through unlocking the value of Operations’ data and digital backbone
  • Deliver customer insights through Operations’ data and digital backbone
  • Sound operational management including ensuring customer service level are for the full range of products across the country demonstrating a strong customer focus.
  • Ongoing proactive assessment of premises requirements including the formulation of proposals to ensure Ongoing proactive assessment of new products/business line being launched to ensure operational readiness to manage the product

  • Accountable for the implementation, operation and support of ANZ's infrastructure platforms.
  • Document all processes and align points of friction with global digital patterns, ensuring a continuous improvement focus in Operations management covering end to end processes including front line.
  • Development of an in country Operational Plan including IT, in line with the strategic growth agenda of APEA and India businesses.  The plan must include key initiatives for the period covering initiative planning (time, cost, resources), resource allocation, risk/compliance management and stakeholder engagement to optimize service quality (efficiency and effectiveness) supporting specific regional Product Plans across the full range of the product sets.
  • Ensure supplier arrangements are in line with ANZ's Global Sourcing standards including sound documentation of third-party supplier contracts, leases etc.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Extensive years of experience in relevant areas and worked in Banking-IT related areas and projects involving IT Policy and Planning, Financial Networks and Applications, Financial Information Systems, Cyber Security Technologies, Payment Technologies, etc., of which five years should be at senior management level.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure deployment & maintenance.  Hands on exposure to IT systems used in Banks/FIs
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and effective execution of operational planning including a proven project management capability
  • Sound understanding of Operational Risk & Compliance Management
  • Knowledge of the local laws, regulations and adopted codes
  • Effective people skills demonstrated via successful leadership and management of large teams
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Additional certifications like CISO, MCP etc will be an added advantage
  • Cyber Security Certification as mandated by RBI for CTO and CXO
  • CA, PG in Finance, Operations, Engineering Graduate MCA or equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institution is preferred.
  • Relevant Tertiary/Post Graduate qualification(s) including an MBA or equivalent.
