Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) strives to protect our business and communities against financial crime threats. FCTM utilise customer data and intelligence to detect, investigate and escalate potentially suspicious activity such as money laundering, financing of terrorism, and activity involving sanctioned parties. FCTM specialists work within the Financial Crime Portfolio to support businesses across the group in complying with financial crime regulatory obligations.


The List Based Detection & Filter Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Filter Management staff to meet ANZ’s economic and AML & sanctions obligations through the timely and effective management of ANZ’s enterprise AML & Sanctions Filtering solutions, focussing on solutions for list-based screening of customers and payments.


The role is responsible for detection solutions encompassing name-based screening on the enterprise platforms, along with payments screening on ANZ’s cross-border sanctions filter. In addition to developing solutions for detecting potential high risk customers and transactions, the role is also focussed on developing and improving controls to ensure the effective operation of the filters. A further important aspect of the role is the implementation and ongoing enhancement and support of automation solutions to improve productivity of the team and the controls that are implemented to manage sanctions risks.

What will you bring?

  • Proven track record in managing a time critical compliance function with management accountability for multiple key controls
  • Goal oriented with an attention to detail, supported by well devloped process methodology.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work under pressure and manage multiple activities, balancing the cost/risk paradigm in accordance with a zero tolerance for compliance breach environment
  • Experience in delivery / implementation of major projects / initiatives and ability to deal with various internal/external stakeholder groups ensuring shared understanding of goals and priorities
  • Advanced data management / manipulation skills – Excel, SQL, SAS, Python, Machine Learning and experience in technology and process governance requirements in deploying technology solutions.
  • Sound knowledge of the Bank’s procedures and policies, particularly in relation to risk and compliance activities with specific focus on ETS Policy obligations and governance processes regarding implementation of automation solutions and end-user developed tools.
