About the Role
As the Divisional and CCO Business Governance & Controls Portfolio Lead, you are responsible for monitoring the risk and control environment across the CCO Portfolio and Retail Division (in conjunction with the other Portfolio Assurance Leads).
This includes:
- Supporting the Australian Retail Head of Controls to drive consistency, remove duplication and uplift risk capability and effectiveness across the Controls Office and in the risk management practices of the Retail Division
- Delivering capability uplift for the Division through a standardised services model (implemented by dedicated teams), including training, standardised processes. ways of working and tooling/templates
- Driving uplift across the Portfolio and Retail Divisional data, reporting and product governance activities in partnership with the business and assurance teams
- Providing leadership and insights into Divisional NFR related data that drives an uplift in the Retail Division control environment.
- Accountable for high quality and insightful Group, Divisional and Portfolio NFR reporting and management of the CCO RMF.
- Providing leadership and oversight of the NFR activities of the Portfolio and the relevant end to end value chains
- Ensuring coordination of, and alignment with, activities of the Portfolio-aligned dedicated teams
- Embedding visibility of the risks and controls and best practice across the Portfolio, Division and end to end value chains, in line with CPS230 and NFR Framework
- Fostering strong collaboration and connection with the Business and with Line 2 to drive better risk management practices
- Driving a balanced capacity and load across portfolios as required

What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
- Provide risk management support, liaising with the BG&C dedicated team as needed, to ensure consistency in risk management processes across the portfolios and contribution to reducing the overall residual risk position of Retail Division
- Oversee the collation and drafting of applicable Board and senior management reporting into a range of Board and Forum papers including AR RMC and APC
- Lead the provision of compliance support across the BUs to a range of stakeholders to ensure continued adherence to compliance requirements and obligations, including development of controls as needed to manage obligations
- Supports completion of compliance plans, attestation etc to manage obligations in line with the NFR Framework
- Ensures that the business and Division has given adequate consideration around risks, obligations and controls introduced/amended by business initiative or regulatory and strategic change
- Leads the provision of governance support and guidance, critically reviewing, challenging where necessary and offering capability uplift to the business to better manage the application of ANZ’s risk management frameworks
- Supports the implementation of the NFR uplift program involving the transformation of the operating model and control proposition through automation and simplification and driving risk culture uplift
- Leads and fosters strong collaboration and connection with stakeholders in Line 2 and across the organisation to strengthen risk awareness and responses
- Builds a high performing, engaging team environment that looks to foster high standards, role clarity, development and flexibility across the function
What will you bring?
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Proven experience in a similar risk management role within a large and complex organisation (preferably within banking)
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement initiatives that lead to improved controls environment and operational risk, governance and assurance management
- Ability to respond to challenges associated with operational risk, governance and assurance, including the regulatory environment and best practice
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to use insights to influence key decisions
- Ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders to manage risk across the portfolio
- Understanding of the need to mitigate business operational risks in line with established risk management and compliance frameworks
- Proven effective and positively engaging people leadership to nurture talent, a ‘culture carrier’ with leadership capability to shape and motivate team demonstrating ANZ’s values and leadership behaviours.
