About the Role
As the Manager Sanctions Circumvention Investigations, you will play a key role within Financial Crime Threat Management (FCTM) Sanctions team in enhancing sanctions controls outside customary list-based detection and alert investigation to combat emerging risks of sanctions evasion.
As a new leadership role within FCTM Sanctions, you will be responsible for –
- Leading all sanctions circumvention initiatives from an FCTM Sanctions perspective
- Working closely and collaboratively with a number of teams within Financial Crime to identify target products or business segments
- Managing and leading a small cell of senior sanctions investigators dedicated to sanctions circumvention investigations
Role Location: Melbourne or Brisbane
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time
What will your day look like?
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Working under the guidance of the Head of Sanctions Investigations to craft the control approach to any regulatory advisories around sanctions evasion or outcomes of any Threat Assessments conducted by Financial Crime Intelligence (FCI) teams related to sanctions circumvention
- Actioning the output arising out of any Threat Assessments conducted by the FCI teams, end to end, including implementation of controls and/or any regulatory reporting.
- Leading a small cell of sanctions circumvention investigators to assist with any investigations required.
- Demonstrate, through MI reporting or sharing insights to the broader FCP community, of any emerging sanctions evasion risks identified through investigation of FCI’s Threat Assessment outputs.
- Building collaborative relationships to enable business and compliance objectives to be achieved.
What will you bring?
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Good knowledge of Sanctions regulations and risks
- Ability to work with, and interpret multiple sources of data and networks.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions
- Time management and planning skills
- Experience of managing small teams of investigators
- Strong communication skills leading to clear articulation of ideas and effective facilitation of discussions
Prior experience in international Trade operations or experience in trade-based money laundering roles will be highly valued.
