Tech Analyst, Capability Delivery (12-Month FTC)
Tech Analyst, Capability Delivery (12-Month FTC)
About Us
At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.
About the Role
Fortify is a major regulatory program responding to significant reforms in the financial crime and external fraud landscape, including changes to AML/CTF laws, the Scams Prevention Framework and expanded sanctions expectations. You’ll join a program transforming how the Bank manages Financial Crime risk globally, using technology to deliver compliant, scalable and customer-focused outcomes that help protect our customers and communities.
As the Technical Analyst – Capability Delivery, you’ll act as the gateway between business stakeholders and technology delivery teams to turn business and regulatory needs into clear, practical system requirements and analysis. You’ll connect business intent with technology delivery by clarifying scope, identifying impacts and dependencies, and maintaining traceability through design, build, testing and release.
You’ll bring curiosity, structure and attention to detail to complex and sometimes ambiguous problems. By asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions and disciplined analysis techniques, you’ll help teams understand system impacts, make informed decisions and move through delivery with confidence.
Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.
Role Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Role Location: Melbourne or Brisbane
Work Hours: Full-Time
What will your day look like?
- Facilitate cross-team discovery: Plan and lead workshops, process walkthroughs, scenario reviews and impact-assessment sessions involving business SMEs, risk and compliance partners, architects, data specialists, operational teams and application owners. Use appropriate techniques such as stakeholder maps, RACI, SIPOC, context diagrams, decision tables and facilitated playback to build shared understanding.
- Analyse technology impacts: Assess how proposed changes affect capabilities, platforms, systems, data flows, interfaces, controls, non-functional requirements and operational processes. Identify dependencies, gaps and delivery risks early so they can inform solution design and planning.
- Create clear, usable analysis: Develop functional and system requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mappings, interface assessments and traceability artefacts that give delivery teams a shared understanding of what needs to change.
- Partner with delivery teams: Work closely with delivery leads, engineers, architects and platform teams to test assumptions, resolve questions, confirm design intent and keep analysis aligned as the solution evolves.
- Support testing readiness and execution: Help translate requirements and controls into test scenarios, data needs and acceptance criteria. Support defect analysis and maintain traceability between requirements, test outcomes and business acceptance.
- Maintain risk and compliance traceability: Support regulatory, risk, assurance and audit needs through clear requirements traceability, decision records, control evidence and implementation artefacts.
- Support release readiness: Contribute the analysis and traceability needed for implementation planning, operational readiness, go-live decisions and transition into production, including dependencies, risks and rollback considerations.
- Support transition and handover: Ensure operational and support teams understand the change, its impacts and any ongoing considerations through guidance, knowledge transfer and handover materials.
What will you bring?
To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally bring:
- Technical analysis experience: 10 years + experience working as a Technical Analyst, Systems Analyst or in a closely related analysis role, translating business and regulatory needs into system requirements, impact assessments and delivery-ready analysis.
- Structured analysis approach: Ability to apply proven methodologies to investigate complex problems, clarify issues and support sound delivery decisions.
- Delivery focus: Confidence managing ambiguity, identifying dependencies and keeping analysis aligned to delivery milestones.
- Integration impact analysis: Able to navigate integration layers and trace end-to-end flows across channels, APIs, middleware, services and downstream systems to identify impacted endpoints, interfaces, mappings and dependencies.
- Implementation-ready technical analysis: Able to produce detailed technical requirements, interface definitions, mappings, decision logic, configuration changes and near-pseudocode that an engineer can implement without having to repeat the analyst’s investigation.
- Non-functional and operational analysis: Understand how changes may affect security, performance, availability, resilience, monitoring, logging, supportability and production operations.
- Infrastructure and configuration awareness: Able to identify technology impacts beyond application code, including load balancers, routing, certificates, secrets, firewall rules, service accounts, environment configuration and deployment dependencies.
- Traceability discipline: Experience maintaining a clear chain from source obligation through to requirement, decision, implementation and evidence, including the reasoning behind key decisions.
- Critical thinking and judgement: Ability to separate facts, interpretations, assumptions and proposed solutions; test the strength of available evidence; identify gaps and contradictions; and determine when analysis is sufficiently complete for application teams to proceed.
- Technical collaboration and communication: Able to work effectively across business, risk, architecture, engineering, testing and operations teams; explain complex technical impacts clearly; document decisions; and challenge constructively when needed.
- Working style: Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining momentum and quality.
- Delivery tools: Able to use Jira, Confluence, SharePoint or similar tools to create clarity, connect requirements and decisions, surface dependencies and support delivery outcomes.
- Financial crime and regulatory change experience: Experience in financial services, risk, compliance or regulatory change environments would be highly regarded.
