About the Role

The Strategic Risk and Regulatory Program Lead is accountable for strengthening our focus and commitment with regulatory relationships and ensuring the importance of these relationships in strategic and day to day decision making for the Australia Commercial Division. This role is responsible for proactively identifying, navigating and providing strategic advice on regulatory matters and change which impact Australia Commercial Division. (including the APRA Governance Plan). In addition, this role will use data led insights to drive and shape appropriate regulatory responses, business engagement within and outside the Australia Commercial Division, drive change activities to ensure regulatory compliance and support divisional activities to drive a strong risk culture.

What will your day look like?

 

This role is accountable for:

  • Constructive engagement with regulators through timely, accurate, clear and consistent communication
  • Adopting an enterprise first and thought leadership approach and working collaboratively across the value chain to respond to regulator matters and change including identifying and navigating new and emerging risks.
  • Execute regulatory change (large and BAU) on time, to budget and of high-quality standard using effective change management to ensure compliance to obligations.
  • Preparation of all relevant regulatory change executive papers
  • Foster a culture of ethics and integrity within the organisation.
  • Triage all new ad hoc business requests from the internal and external environment and ensure they are managed by the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collate and execute a yearly and quarterly plan for how the Australia Commercial Division will adhere to regulatory change (including APRA remediation plan)
  • Drive improvements to customer experience, making things simpler and better for our bankers and create capacity for them to serve our customers.
  • Providing an independent review and challenge function within the division

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Compliance and Policy Management: Identifying and interpreting applicable laws, rules, codes and standards to create and/or manage policies, processes and procedures, including how these are organised, reviewed and communicated. This includes a strong understanding of the regulatory environment within Australia.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide day to day thought leadership and drive actions promoting BGA portfolio to its customers and stakeholders whilst actively contributing to the BGA strategic direction.
  • Planning and Prioritisation: Planning and prioritising what needs to be done (including people, process and technology implications) to deliver upon customer/user needs and strategic priorities. This includes identifying, planning for, tracking and resolving dependencies.
  • Stakeholder Management: The ability to identify, understand and anticipate the needs of those who can affect or be affected by your work to gain commitment including senior executives.
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to use logic and reasoning to analyse, evaluate and synthesize a range of information to understand an opportunity or challenge.
  • Governance: Providing governance expertise to support the effective operation of a team, function, project or entity. This includes developing and implementing governance frameworks (including rules, relationships, systems and processes) to assist with the proper exercise and control of authority.
  • Risk and issue management: The ability to identify and assess risks, determine the corrective action required to control or eliminate the risks and effectively manage issues that arise.
