About the Role

 

The Senior Storage Solution Designer is a strategic technical leader responsible for storage solutions, design assurance, and evolution of ANZ’s enterprise storage and data protection environments. The role ensures storage platforms are designed to meet business requirements & regulatory commitments, are secure & resilient, and are aligned to business strategy & long‑term technology roadmaps.

 

This role operates as a senior technical authority, partnering with senior infrastructure, application, security, risk, and architecture stakeholders. The role provides technical leadership for platform technology direction & investment decisions, platform modernisation & simplification initiatives, and service uplift programs.

What will your day look like?

 

As a Senior Storage Solution Designer, you will be:

 

Enterprise Storage Design

  • Act as the senior design authority for storage solutions, ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards and meet enterprise requirements for availability, performance, scalability, security, and ease of management
  • Produce and govern high‑quality design artefacts, including solution designs, storage reference architectures and design patterns for block, file, object, and backup storage across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud environments

 

Strategy, Roadmaps & Planning

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise storage and data protection roadmap
  • Provide input into multi-year investment planning, lifecycle management, and cost optimisation strategies
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and modernise storage platforms to reduce cost, risk, and technical debt

 

Product Selection, Standards & Governance

  • Lead technical evaluation and product selection activities for enterprise storage and backup platforms
  • Provide technical authority for RFPs, RFIs, and major vendor engagements
  • Define and maintain enterprise storage standards, reference architectures & patterns, and approved technology platforms
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture forums and communities of practice

 

Backup, Recovery & Resilience 

  • Define standardised approaches to RTO, RPO, immutability, retention, and cyber recovery
  • Ensure data protection solutions meet regulatory, audit, and operational resilience obligations
  • Provide technical leadership for improvement initiatives in recoverability, automation, and resilience maturity

 

Technical Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to application, platform, and delivery teams
  • Influence decision making across infrastructure, cloud, and data domains
  • Support delivery teams through design assurance and technical decisions

 

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

Technical

  • Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise storage solutions in large, complex organisations
  • Proven experience designing for high availability, performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Deep expertise across Dell & IBM SAN arrays, NetApp & Dell NAS platforms, Dell object storage, and Dell data protection platforms
  • Deep understanding of data replication, backup, disaster recovery, cyber resilience and business continuity planning
  • Strong understanding of AWS & GCP cloud data services

 

Professional

  • Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, regulated environment
  • Strategic mindset coupled with strong technical depth
  • Demonstrated ability to balance risk, cost, and performance trade‑offs
