Senior Test Analyst - (12 Months Fixed Term)
About Us
At ANZ, we're applying new ways technology and data can be harnessed as we work towards a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.
About the Role
As a Senior Test Analyst in Deposits & Payments, you will be instrumental in strengthening ANZ’s enterprise document management strategy - uplifting capability, improving future‑state processes, and enhancing how the bank manages and surfaces critical documents. As part of this broader objective, you will also play a critical role in the Suncorp Migration program by driving end‑to‑end delivery, shaping the implementation approach, preparing impacted teams, and ensuring migrated Suncorp documents are seamlessly accessible for customers and staff from Day 1.
You will own the end‑to‑end testing approach, including strategy, planning, test case design and execution, defect triage, and ensuring full functional and non‑functional coverage. You will partner with business and technology stakeholders to validate outcomes, protect quality, and report on progress, risks, and defects to support a smooth migration and strong Day 1. You will also contribute PMO support across planning, releases, tech coordination, and reporting to the program’s Testing pillar.
Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.
Role Type: 12 Months
Role Location: Melbourne
Work Hours: Fulltime (Hybrid)
What will your day look like?
You will be accountable for;
- Leading the Testing pillar by acting as the primary Tester - accountable for hands‑on testing work, setting clear objectives and priorities, guiding and supporting the team’s testing activities, coordinating with key stakeholders, and ensuring delivery of the required outcomes for the initiative.
- Working within the team to collaborate with business, technology teams, and vendors to understand solution intent and translate it into effective test strategies, plans, and scenarios, while also flexing into other workstreams as needed for support (e.g. business and technical analysis).
- Applying your testing expertise to develop and execute end-to-end test strategy and plan for the initiative across all phases (e.g. SIT, UAT, BVT), ensuring comprehensive test cases, well‑defined test conditions, and thorough assessment of coverage, scope and risk.
- Creating detailed process, data flow and system interaction diagrams to identify testable paths, dependencies, edge cases and validation points that inform test design.
- Coordinating with the program’s Testing team, other initiatives, stakeholders and vendors to ensure test phases are planned effectively and sequenced correctly, environments and data are prepared, and execution aligns with release timelines.
- Supporting project delivery by providing clear reporting on test progress, defects, risks, environment readiness and resource needs, assisting the Initiative Lead with testing‑related project inputs.
- Facilitating workshops with business and technology stakeholders to refine test scope, test plans, and test cases; validate impacts; clarify expected outcomes; and ensure comprehensive test coverage, including test case execution.
- Ensuring strong testing hygiene by maintaining high‑quality test documentation, ensuring adherence to ANZ delivery standards, and keeping all artefacts audit‑ready (e.g. Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Summary Reports).
- Applying a strong understanding of the technology landscape to interpret solution architecture, identify integration points and system behaviours, and translate these into integration, regression and end‑to‑end test scenarios.
- Assisting the Initiative Lead in coordinating the team and broader working groups, ensuring test activities remain aligned to priorities and contributing to a positive and high‑performance team culture.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- A can‑do attitude and willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’ to help the team deliver in a fast‑paced VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) environment—consistently flexing between your SME responsibilities and evolving team priorities that require swarming. You will need to multi‑task, adapt quickly to ambiguity, and remain delivery‑focused.
- Deep experience in strategising, designing, and managing detailed test strategies, test plans, and test cases, with a strong emphasis on coverage, traceability, and risk‑based testing. You will be comfortable conducting comprehensive execution of test cases across functional and non‑functional requirements, ensuring quality outcomes through disciplined test design and defect management.
- Proven ability to operate as the primary, hands‑on Tester, with leadership experience valued to help coordinate and influence matrixed technical and business contributors. This role requires someone who leads through action - shaping high‑quality deliverables, providing pragmatic testing guidance, and helping the team pivot effectively as risks and priorities evolve.
- Strong functional experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas: Testing, Business or Technical Analysis, Project Management, Change Management, Risk Management, and/or Solution Architecture. The ability to connect test coverage directly to risk controls and delivery outcomes is essential.
- Exceptional stakeholder‑management skills and an adaptable working style are must‑haves, as the role requires engaging effectively with Business Owners across multiple Business Units, Leadership Teams, other initiatives, technology teams, and vendors.
- Experience working on large‑scale technology migration programs, with a strong interest and background in technology delivery, solution architecture concepts, and interpreting technical requirements.
- SME-level understanding of document management services and related technology stacks is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination and administration, including reporting, schedule management, resource tracking, and performance management across complex delivery environments.
- Expert documentation, facilitation, analysis, and organisational skills - capable of maintaining high hygiene standards and preserving the integrity of all deliverables (e.g. detailed test strategies, test plans, test cases, and traceability matrices).
- Proficiency with collaboration tools (e.g. Teams, JIRA, JIRA Xray, Confluence, Sharepoint, etc.) and project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel and Project, etc.).
- A strong and consistent risk lens, with an ability to identify, articulate, and mitigate delivery, quality, and customer risks through structured testing, robust defect management, and evidence‑based reporting. You will ensure solutions are sustainable and protect customers, stakeholders, and the bank.
- You are experienced in conflict management and have complex problem-solving skills to handle team or stakeholder issues and can manage unexpected challenges effectively.
- You have a demonstrable record of delivering on time and budget with different project delivery methodologies (Agile and Waterfall) and internal governance frameworks.
- An intense passion and curiosity for customers and their needs - ensuring the customer lens is embedded in test design, defect prioritisation, and delivery decisions, and that customer journeys and experiences are continually optimised.
