About the Role
The purpose of this role is to strengthen the integrity and effectiveness of financial crime investigations by supporting the end-to-end investigative process. This includes enhancing procedural and typology documentation to ensure clarity and consistency,and driving continuous quality improvements through staff coaching and real-time investigative support.
The role plays a key part in identifying and mitigating emerging financial crime risks—particularly those related to Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML)—by partnering with stakeholders to conduct in-depth threat assessments. It also involves conducting TBML and Correspondent Banking (CB) investigations and compliance reviews as needed.
A critical aspect of the role is identifying and escalating systemic issues to help business partners address key risk themes. The role also supports the development and implementation of new TBML detection scenarios through testing and validation.
Additionally, the role contributes to team capability by onboarding new members and ensuring they are well-equipped to succeed. It also involves managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and law enforcement, to ensure timely and compliant information sharing.

What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
• Supporting the end-to-end investigation process by reviewing and enhancing procedural and typology knowledge documentation.
• Assisting operational teams with delivering risk and policy changes to improve TBML and CB risk coverage.
• Supporting FCTM respond to internal/external audit enquiries as required.
• Driving quality improvements through staff coaching and providing real-time support during investigations.
• Partnering with key stakeholders to conduct in-depth threat assessments, with a focus on identifying and mitigating emerging financial crime risks—particularly Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML).
• Identifying and escalating systemic issues to help business partners recognize and address key risk themes.
• Conducting TBML and/or Correspondent Banking (CB) investigations and compliance reviews as required.
• Supporting the testing, validation, and implementation of new TBML detection scenarios.
• Assisting with onboarding new team members, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and support to succeed.
• Managing internal and external stakeholder relationships (e.g., regulators and law enforcement), ensuring information exchanges occur within regulatory guidelines.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Extensive experience within financial crime with TBML or trade related area.
• Strong understanding of TBML typologies and red flags
• Deep knowledge of trade finance processes and documentation
• Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
• Coach and guide team members in their skills in their growth areas and foster an energetic, vibrant team culture.
