About the Role

The Senior Manager, Regulatory Relations is responsible for the global oversight of ANZ’s management of the Level 2 risk, effective relationships with its main Prudential and Conduct Regulators.  It is responsible for:

  • Managing and achieving exceptional engagement with Australian Regulators.
  • Developing and improving governance practices, policies and processes that support this objective.
  • Forming an opinion, providing advice and sharing insights on regulatory risks facing ANZ.

 

This role maintains strong relationship with Executives and Senior Managers across all areas of the bank and our primary domestic regulators. Collaborates closely with the Group Head of Regulatory Relations, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Manager, Regulatory Relations, you are accountable for:

  • As relationship manager to APRA and ASIC maintain excellent communication lines and a strategic approach to exceptional engagement and always represent ANZ professionally
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key business, product and risk and compliance stakeholders to drive proactive, effective and efficient approach to regulator management
  • Lead the continuous improvement of governance processes supporting effective regulator engagement including issue management, information sharing, effective regulator review preparation and organisation
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across the bank to identify regulatory themes and trends, share insights and have an opinion on the regulatory risk facing ANZ
  • Handle issues of the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality with confidence and care, supporting high level strategy and engagement in relation to the regulatory relationship
  • Lead a small team to deliver exceptional regulator engagement for ANZ.
  • Contribute to and foster the development of an enhanced risk culture
  • Ensure ANZ’s core values are always maintained in dealing with internal and external stakeholder, government agencies and external regulators

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualified, 10 plus years Financial Services or Risk Management experience
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills
  • Experience of managing high profile regulatory issues to successful rectification
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external Regulators/stakeholders and influence/negotiate change
  • Experience managing small teams desirable
  • Wide organisational knowledge and network to support information gathering
  • Experience in developing and improving governance processes
