About the Role

As a Manager, this role supports the global oversight of ANZ’s management of the Level 2 risk,  effective relationships with its Prudential Regulators.  This includes the following responsibilities:
With a primary focus on Australian regulators APRA and ASIC you will:

  • Coordinate and guide responses to regulatory issues and requests with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
    • Maintain strong relationships with Executives and Senior Managers across all areas of the bank and with primary regulators to ensure the timely and effective management of all regulatory interactions.
    • Provide advisory services to support the Business with regulatory interactions.
    • Reporting into the Group Head of Regulatory & Conduct Risk this role supports
  • Implementation of the regulatory interactions strategy.
    • Oversight of Regulatory Interactions and providing insights on the management of Regulatory Interactions as a Level 2 risk across the Enterprise, including reporting to Executives
    • Oversight of the frameworks, policies, associated control objectives and obligations relating to regulatory interactions as a Level 2 risk, including the enhancement of processes and controls for regulatory interactions, identifying opportunities for simplification and automation
    • Development, mentoring and supervision of junior team members
    • Finally, you will be expected to work collaboratively with others, be forward-thinking, and role model our target risk behaviours

 

This role maintains strong relationship with Executives and Senior Managers across all areas of the bank.

What will your day look like?

Financial:

  • Provide oversight and support for the delivery of secure, compliant, efficient, cost-effective, and value-adding professional services.

 

Customer:

  • Assist in understanding stakeholder needs to coordinate quality and timely regulatory interactions, leveraging regulatory relations teams to support stakeholders when required.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships to enable business and regulatory compliance objectives to be achieved
  • Assist in the alignment of strategic business goals to support meaningful engagement with regulators.
  • Support the coordination of the business response to regulator requests (including Notices) with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in preparing the business for regulatory consultations and reviews and provide advice for regulatory interactions.
  • Support Enterprise Compliance with Regulatory Risk requests and requirements, internally or externally, to achieve required outcomes.

 

Process:

  • Contribute to the development of practical mechanisms to gather information required to provide visibility and awareness over all significant regulatory interactions.
  • Support the coordination of on-site supervisory visits and briefing of internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the ownership of risk frameworks, policies and associated control objectives relating to Prudential obligations and associated governance and reporting of Regulatory Interactions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the process for regulatory interactions across the organisation, including simplification and automation opportunities and data integrity
  • Assist in delivering timely and insightful reporting and analysis of management information relating to regulatory interactions at the Enterprise level for Executives, Senior Management, Executive and Board.
  • Support the oversight and coordination of regulatory interactions and responses to regulatory requests across the organisation, including the appropriate communication and escalation of issues and actions imposed by regulators and the coordination of responses.

 

People:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the Group.

 

Risk/compliance/behaviours:

  • Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with internal and external stakeholders, government agencies, and external regulators.
  • Contribute to sustaining a Sound Risk Culture within the team.
  • Contribute to ensuring adherence to obligations and governance frameworks.

What will you bring?

  • Experience in a Risk, Regulatory Relations or Regulatory Affairs role , preferably within a Regulated Financial Institution
  • A sound understanding of the Banking regulatory environment  
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence and demonstrated learning agility to digest complex and large information sets to draw insights, conclusions and actions.
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  • Tertiary qualified, 10 plus years Financial Services or Risk Management experience
