About the Role
As Senior Manager, Controls QA in Group Operations you will play a critical leadership role in shaping and strengthening our first-line control testing and quality assurance capability across a significant business portfolio.
You'll lead the continuous uplift of control testing practices, ensuring testing activities are risk-based, methodologically robust and aligned to enterprise risk standards. By providing oversight, coaching and expert guidance, you'll help the business gain deeper insight into control effectiveness, identify emerging risks and drive sustainable improvements that strengthen risk culture and business performance.
Working closely with senior business leaders, risk partners and assurance functions, you'll influence how risk is understood and managed, while leading a high-performing team that delivers independent challenge, meaningful assurance and actionable insights.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Manager, Controls QA in Group Operations, you will:
- Lead and continuously improve control testing methodologies, quality standards and assurance practices to strengthen consistency, effectiveness and scalability across the business.
- Oversee the delivery and quality of control testing and assurance activities, ensuring outcomes are evidence-based, well-governed and aligned with enterprise risk frameworks.
- Use data, analytics and automation to identify trends, emerging risks, control environment weaknesses and opportunities to enhance business outcome delivery
- Translate testing results into clear, actionable insights that identify performance improvement requirements, risk exposures, thematic issues and opportunities to improve control assessment performance and effectiveness.
- Partner with senior stakeholders, business leaders, risk specialists and assurance teams to influence decision-making, strengthen control ownership and drive remediation outcomes.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of quality assurance and control testing professionals, building specialist capability and fostering a strong risk culture.
- Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of data-led techniques, automation opportunities and emerging best practices that enhance assurance maturity and business outcomes.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Significant experience in control testing, quality assurance, non-financial risk management, compliance, audit or assurance within a complex and highly regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of risk and control frameworks, enterprise risk standards, regulatory obligations and governance practices, with the ability to apply these pragmatically across business operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, capability building and managing high-performing teams while maintaining strong quality and delivery standards.
- Advanced analytical capability, including experience using data analytics, reporting tools, automation or AI-enabled solutions to improve insights generation focussed on individual, team, process and business performance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to determine control assessment effectiveness, identify root causes and translate findings into meaningful, actionable insights for business leaders.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability, with confidence engaging senior leaders and providing constructive challenge to drive better risk outcomes.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with experience enhancing testing methodologies, assurance practices, reporting frameworks and the use of data, analytics or automation to improve effectiveness.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, risk, finance, technology or a related discipline will be highly regarded. Professional certifications in risk management, compliance, audit, control testing or related fields, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development, will be viewed favourably.
