About the Role
The Manager Business Governance and Controls for Communications and Public Affairs is a key leadership and stakeholder engagement role in supporting Risk & Control owners to effectively manage their risk profile and ensuring that key NFR activities are undertaken in a timely manner.
The Manager Business Governance and Controls will operate within the Group Risk Management Framework to ensure the Communications and Public Affairs division manages non-financial risk (NFR) within appetite and is compliant with ANZ policies.
In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of business risks and control activities across CPA. This includes supporting the division with non-financial risk identification, managing compliance with obligations, event management, business risk forum reporting, facilitation of audit preparation, supporting non-financial risk assessments, business continuity planning, control testing, governance and stakeholder management.

What could your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
- Leading CPA’s adoption of the ANZ NFR program, I.AM Amplified, including proactive management and review of CPA’s Business Environment Context, Risk Profile, Key Controls and Obligations
- Promoting a strong risk culture across CPA of adhering to standards, managing risk exposure and making sustainable risk decisions
- Establishing and running a CPA risk forum
- Continuously monitoring the external and internal business environment to identify and understand future and emerging risks
- Providing audit engagement support and risk awareness initiatives
- Maintaining quality and up-to-date data in the NFR Hub and managing any issues arising in CPA
- Liaising with the ANZ Corporate Governance team in relation to senior executive accountabilities
- Liaising with ANZ second line risk
- Identifying process and control weaknesses and providing feedback to mitigate operational risks and meet compliance obligations
- Supporting CPA implement any proposed changes to the I.AM Program including any data requirements and migration, business readiness activities and communicating changes.
What's in your toolkit?
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Background and experience in risk, compliance or audit roles involving identifying and assessing risk, devising appropriate mitigants and controls and understanding risk management frameworks
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence outcomes at all levels
- An ability to support and coach colleagues across CPA in building well managed competencies
- An ability to tackle complex problems using critical and structured thinking to effectively manage NFR
- Demonstrated understanding/working experience of NFR Management at ANZ and the role of the Control Officer
- Knowledge of the effective application of ANZ’s NFR framework
- Strong writing skills
- A strong record of being organised, working to deadlines and with an attention to detail
- An ability to build strong, open and collaborative working relationships.
