About the Role
The Senior Manager, AI & Data Risk plays a critical role in ensuring AI and data‑driven initiatives across the enterprise are designed, deployed and operated within approved risk appetite, regulatory expectations and responsible AI principles.
The role provides independent risk oversight, constructive challenge and expert advice across AI governance and data risk management, supporting safe innovation while protecting customers, employees and the organisation.

What will your day look like?
Governance, Frameworks & Policy
- Lead the application and ongoing uplift of AI and Data Risk frameworks, policies, standards and control objectives.
- Support the maintenance and evolution of AI & Data risk taxonomies, control libraries and assessment methodologies.
Risk Appetite, Assurance & Reporting
- Assess whether AI and data risk profiles remain within approved risk appetite and tolerances.
- Oversee calibration of AI and data risks across divisions to support consistent risk outcomes.
- Contribute to executive, risk committee and Board‑level reporting on AI and data risk themes, trends and emerging issues.
Engagement & Influence
- Partner closely with technology, data, legal, compliance and business teams to enable compliant and responsible AI adoption.
- Provide expert advice and challenge to senior stakeholders on complex AI and data risk matters.
- Represent AI & Data Risk in enterprise forums, reviews and regulatory‑related discussions as required.
Capability & Continuous Improvement
- Identify systemic gaps in AI and data risk management practices and drive targeted uplift initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of enterprise capability in AI risk literacy, governance and controls.
- Stay across evolving regulatory, industry and technology developments relevant to AI and data risk.
What will you bring?
The ‘must have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
- Strong understanding of Non-Financial Risk (NFR) frameworks and Three Lines of Defence model.
- Expertise in data governance, risk appetite setting, and oversight mechanisms.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable governance practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across senior leadership levels.
- Analytical mindset with experience in risk metrics, dashboards, and assurance reviews.
The ‘good to have’ knowledge, skill and experience (KSE) the role requires are:
- Change Management
- Team Building
- Strategy Development

- Minimum 8–10 years in risk management, data governance, or related fields.
- Proven experience in oversight roles within financial services or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with APRA standards and enterprise risk frameworks.
