About the Role
As a Senior Manager, Diversified Credit (Wholesale SME) within the Business & Private Banking risk team, you will play a pivotal leadership role providing independent second line oversight , supporting strong credit quality and portfolio performance across the Wholesale SME portfolio.
Operating at the intersection of risk, strategy, and commercial outcomes, you will influence key credit decisions, provide robust challenge and stewardship, and help shape sustainable portfolio performance.
This is an opportunity to partner with senior business and risk leaders to ensure credit decisions, portfolio management, and risk practices are aligned to the Group's risk appetite, policies, and regulatory expectations. Through your leadership, sound judgement, and deep credit expertise, you will drive strong risk outcomes, strengthen governance, and foster a culture of accountability and risk excellence, supporting the long-term success and resilience of the Business & Private Bank portfolio.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Manager, Diversified Credit (Wholesale SME), you are accountable for:
- Leading the Wholesale SME team within the Diversified Credit portfolio, managing credit decisions and portfolio quality outcomes across the portfolio.
- Influence strategic credit and portfolio decisions through trusted partnerships with senior business and risk stakeholders, and active leadership in governance forums.
- Build and develop a high-performing team, strengthening capability, risk expertise, and excellence in credit assessment and portfolio stewardship.
- Champion a strong risk culture through effective governance, policy adherence, portfolio oversight, and transparent risk reporting aligned to the Group's risk appetite.
What will you bring?
- Strong leadership skills, including stakeholder influencing skills and the ability to manage executive stakeholders.
- Advanced credit assessment, decision-making (CAD), and risk management capabilities across Wholesale SME portfolios.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills, ability to manage complex credit scenarios. Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset including policy gap identification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to manage credit deterioration and complex risk scenarios proactively, and demonstrated ability to contribute to executive level papers.
- Demonstrates an open‑minded and adaptable approach, with the ability to adjust style, thinking and judgement to evolving business needs and credit contexts, and to align with ANZ's 2030 Strategy.
- Has successfully led teams through change while fostering a positive, open mindset and helping teams adapt confidently to evolve business and risk environments.
- Tertiary qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting or Economics (desirable)
