About the Role

Reporting to the GM, Digital Strategy & Platforms, the Senior Manager, Digital Channels Risk & Controls is responsible for leading and enhancing the end-to-end risk and control environment across ANZ Retail's digital channels, including the App, Internet Banking and Public Web.

Working closely with Digital Channels, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Fraud, Internal Audit and business value streams, this role ensures digital channels remain secure, resilient and aligned to ANZ's risk appetite and regulatory obligations.

This is a senior leadership opportunity that provides independent oversight, practical challenge and assurance across critical customer-facing digital experiences, helping to strengthen risk management, control effectiveness and customer outcomes.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Manager, Digital Channels Risk & Control, you will:

  • Own and oversee the digital channel risk and control profile, identifying and managing operational, regulatory, fraud, resilience and customer risks.
  • Establish and maintain control standards that support customer protection, operational resilience, authentication and fraud prevention.
  • Drive effective incident and event management, ensuring timely investigation, remediation and closure of control issues.
  • Represent Digital Channels in risk governance forums, providing clear insights on risk posture, control effectiveness and remediation progress.
  • Provide oversight and assurance on control performance, using data, incidents, audits and risk indicators to identify and address emerging risks.
  • Influence investment, roadmap and prioritisation decisions to ensure risk, resilience and regulatory obligations are appropriately considered.
  • Build strong partnerships across Digital, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Operations and Audit teams to strengthen the control environment and support sustainable risk outcomes.

This is a highly visible leadership role, offering the opportunity to influence the risk and control strategy across critical customer-facing digital channels.

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Extensive experience in risk, controls, compliance, assurance, operational resilience or digital governance roles within a regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, including control design, testing, issue management and remediation assurance.
  • Experience developing or overseeing controls related to customer protection, operational resilience, authentication, fraud prevention and service availability.
  • Proven ability to analyse incidents, audit findings and operational data to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders and representing teams in governance and risk forums.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex risk matters for diverse audiences.
  • Sound understanding of digital channels, including mobile applications, internet banking and web platforms, and the risks associated with customer-facing technology.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across Technology, Product, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Fraud, Operations and Audit functions.
  • Strong judgement, commercial acumen and problem-solving capability, balancing customer outcomes, regulatory obligations and business priorities.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to drive action and influence outcomes across cross-functional teams.
