Role Location: 833 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008 


Role Type: Permanent 

Role Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week

The role is accountable for leading the Controls Testing team for Business & Private Banks 1LOD NFR by strengthening control environments, executing on controls testing activities and driving control uplift activities across the customer journeys / end to end processes to ensure controls are well-designed, effective and compliance with Enterprise standards and Regulatory expectations.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Oversee and uplift controls testing activities for the Business & Private Bank in alignment with Enterprise- and Regulatory Standards.
  • Coordinate and review Control Objective accountability assessments across risk themes, in partnership with Risk Type COEs.
  • Assure the testing performed by Line 1A on a sample/oversight basis to validate control effectiveness.
  • Oversee the co-ordination of control testing across divisions where applicable (eg Tech, Operations).
  • Provide SME input into design, operation or testing steps where appropriate, without compromising independence.
  • Oversee data, insights and reporting as it relates to the control environment for the business area.
  • Delivery on automation initiatives as it relates to control testing, thematic analysis and reporting.
  • Manage controls testing frameworks for the business area in adherence with Enterprise Standards.
  • Partner with Group Risk, Line 2, and frontline leaders to embed a strong control and risk-aware culture.
  • Co-ordinate with peers across the business, ensuring divisional borders do not impact efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Champion a strong Line 1 accountability mindset, ensuring risk management and controls assurance activities and responsibilities are understood and executed by BU and Function Leaders.

What will you bring?

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, law, risk, or related fields
  • Professional certifications in compliance, risk, or data analytics are highly regarded
  • Deep expertise in risk and control frameworks with focus on controls design and testing
  • Proven ability to implement/embed risk frameworks and control objectives in complex environments
  • Experience in leading controls uplift initiatives across cross functional teams
  • Strong capability in data analytics, including experience with data visualisation tools and automation platforms
  • Ability to translate data insights into practical risk mitigation strategies
  • Familiarity with assurance and thematic risk and control analysis
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across senior levels
  • Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to operational execution
