In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert legal advice on privacy, data protection and data‑driven technologies across ANZ’s Australian and global operations;
  • Advise on privacy and data risks arising from technology initiatives, digital transformation, outsourcing arrangements and cloud services;
  • Support the management of privacy related regulatory inquiries, audits and investigations in collaboration with Privacy, Security, Risk and Technology teams;
  • Advise on privacy and data incidents, including data breaches, unauthorised access, use or disclosure of information, data governance failures and other data handling incidents, and advise on notification, remediation and regulatory obligations;
  • Assist with enterprise data governance, privacy risk management and DPIAs/PIAs, including uplift programs responding to privacy and AI‑related regulatory reforms;
  • Draft, review and negotiate privacy, data protection and information security provisions in commercial and supplier agreements;
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, support Divisional Legal teams and contribute to capability uplift across the Privacy & Data Legal team and Legal & Corporate Governance function.

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • At least 10 years’ post‑qualification experience, with strong expertise in privacy and data law;
  • Sound knowledge of Australian privacy legislation, with exposure to international privacy regimes;
  • Experience advising within regulated environments, ideally financial services or complex organisations with global operations;
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in relation to privacy, data and information security provisions;
  • Excellent judgement with the ability to identify legal risk and deliver clear, solution‑focused advice;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across legal and non‑legal teams;
  • Confidence operating in areas of legal ambiguity and emerging regulation, including data and AI;
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
