About the Role
As a Senior Intelligence Analyst in our Financial Crime Threat Assessments team, you will play a key role in identifying and analysing current and emerging criminal threats. You will gather and analyse information from a range of sources to assess risks and develop recommendations to strengthen ANZ’s control environment and risk coverage.
You will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial crime intelligence to relevant internal and external stakeholders, ensuring ANZ’s risk exposure is effectively managed. This includes leveraging ANZ source systems, analytical tools, and intelligence analysis techniques to test and validate intelligence hypotheses, identify key indicators, and assess exposure to financial crime threats across customers, products, channels, and jurisdictions.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will be accountable for:
- Providing analysis and insights to inform ANZ’s risk management decisions, driving operational efficiencies and value
- Identifying opportunities to minimise losses resulting from policy breaches or unlawful activities by customers or employees
- Conducting analysis of customers suspected of financial crime and clearly communicating findings to Compliance and Operational stakeholders, including in-country CEOs and CROs for high-risk matters
- Identifying risk and control deficiencies and recommending appropriate mitigation actions to the business
- Engaging with Law Enforcement and Regulators (with guidance from your manager) through forums such as the Fintel Alliance, MOUs, and other stakeholder relationships, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for information sharing
- Effectively interrogating source systems (e.g. CAP, Systematics, MidANZ) and data repositories (e.g. FCDR, GPP) to gather relevant data for financial crime analysis
- Analysing financial, behavioural, and open-source data to detect patterns of criminal activity across serious and organised financial crime, including money laundering and terrorism financing
- Producing high-quality written threat assessments that clearly communicate findings and recommendations to support informed decision-making
- Fostering collaboration across teams, functions, regions, and divisions by using strong influencing and negotiation skills to build effective stakeholder partnerships
- Promoting an environment that supports a strong understanding of ANZ’s risk culture and business practices
- Upholding ANZ’s core values in all interactions with colleagues, stakeholders, and customers
- Demonstrating strong personal ethics and integrity in all professional activities
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex topics to a range of audiences
- Experience designing and conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research to identify patterns and insights
- Experience in data analysis, including the use of analytical tools and data visualisation techniques
- Exposure to intelligence concepts and practices, ideally within a financial crime environment
- Sound understanding of compliance and operational risk frameworks
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver outcomes in an agile environment
- Strong organisational skills, including effective planning and prioritisation
- Experience within the financial services industry (advantageous)
