About the Role
As the Senior Intelligence Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing ANZ's capacity to respond to current and emerging criminal threats by providing data analytics support across the Financial Crime Threat, Risk and Coverage function, and provides specialist support to uplift processes and tooling in the Institutional Banking Intelligence team.

What will your day look like?
As a Senior Intelligence Analyst, you are accountable for:
- Deliver service offerings in an effective and efficient manner, aligned with policy and governance requirements
- Provide analysis and insights to inform ANZ’s risk management decisions driving greater operating efficiencies and delivering greater value to ANZ.
- Understanding of current and prospective customer needs and expectations, and demonstrates this within work which may have impact upon the customer experience.
- Use intelligence sources and insights gleaned from investigations and data analytics activities to scope and design new detection mechanisms, enhance existing detection, or provide improved coverage or operational efficiencies
- Maintain appropriate documentation relating to the design, development, testing, and ongoing monitoring of ongoing reviews and detection solutions
- Access and query data warehouses to conduct analysis on ANZ customer activities and connection
- As required, access and interrogate source systems from across AU/NZ/Asia/Pacific to identify additional data sources of relevance to enquires.
- Work with other teams within the Financial Crime and technology portfolios to improve the sourcing and interpretation of risk data.
- Foster collaboration across teams, functions, regions and divisions using a range of influencing and negotiation strategies to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and direction for direct and indirect reports where allocated, demonstrating personal commitment to coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
- Drive improvements to operational risk and compliance data quality across ANZ.
- Ensure alignment and adherence to ANZ policies, processes and regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Ensure ANZ's core values are always maintained in dealing with staff, colleagues and customers.
- Demonstration of strong personal ethics and integrity.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Proficient with SQL including views and complex queries.
- Provide analytical support within the Institutional Banking Intelligence team and the wider Risk and Coverage team to support both ad hoc requests, as well as longer term strategic uplift of process and tooling.
- Guide the Institutional Banking Intelligence team in best practice analytical and intelligence techniques, interrogation of source systems, and business processes, to identify patterns of potential criminal behaviour across the Institutional customer space.
- Good working knowledge of data preparation and manipulation (examples including Excel, SAS, Python, and Machine Learning).
- Innovate solutions to solve Financial Crime business problems.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team to drive initiatives in an agile delivery environment
- An understanding of intelligence concepts and practices, ideally within the Financial Crime environment.
- Sound appreciation of compliance and operational risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss complex topics with both technical and business audiences.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of impacted stakeholders (e.g. FCTM operational teams).
- Experience in Non-Financial Risk and Financial Crime.
- Experience working in Financial Services
