About the Role

As a Data Platform Analyst in our Data Mesh Platform team, your mission is to bridge the gap between our technical teams and business stakeholders. You will play a crucial role in gathering requirements, providing first-level support, and ensuring the seamless integration and operation of our data mesh. Your expertise will help us build a robust, scalable, and efficient data infrastructure that empowers our data engineers, data analysts, and platform engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions.

What will your day look like?

Customer Support: Provide first-level support to data engineers, data analysts, and platform engineers, addressing their queries and resolving issues related to the data mesh.

Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document requirements for new data mesh features and improvements.

Data Analysis: Utilize your proficiency in BigQuery and SQL to analyse internal metadata and processes, generate insights, and support decision-making processes.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, platform engineers, and product managers to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation using Markdown and Backstage, ensuring all processes and changes are well-documented.

Agile Practices: Participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to the agile development process, leveraging any Scrum Master experience you may have.

What will you bring?

Must Haves:

Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Proficiency in GCP services, specifically BigQuery.

SQL: Solid SQL skills for data manipulation and extraction.

GitHub: Experience with GitHub for version control, including committing, pull requests (PRs), and requirements documentation.

Markdown and Backstage: Proficiency in using Markdown within Backstage for documentation.

JQL and Jira: Familiarity with JQL for querying and reporting, and experience with Jira for project management.

Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance practices and tools to ensure data quality and compliance.

Nice to Haves:

Software Engineering: Understanding of compute and messaging tooling such as Cloud Run and Pub/Sub.

Kubernetes: Knowledge of Kubernetes.

Data Visualisation Tools: Experience with tools like Tableau or LookerStudio to create insightful visualizations and dashboards.

DevOps Practices: Understanding of DevOps practices and tools to support continuous integration and deployment.

Scrum Master: Some experience as a Scrum Master.
