About the Role
Senior Audit Managers manage audit projects of medium size and/or medium to high complexity in line with the annual Audit Plan, reviewing specific business areas and assessing the adequacy and appropriateness of the risk controls in place.

What will your day look like?
This role is accountable for:
Financial:
- Ensure IA budgets are realistic and then achieved.
- Ensure productive use of resources (self and others).
- Ensure risk identification is performed effectively, reducing where possible, the scope of the review without reducing the provision of assurance.
- If required, contribute to the development of the annual IA plan and the allocation of resources based on risk profile of business areas.
Customer:
- Active communication and engagement with business unit.
- Audit messages and recommendations are value adding, material, show foresight, are timely, commercial and pragmatic.
- Ensure line management buy into the audit findings while also proactively and effectively managing any disconnect in opinions that may arise between senior parties during an audit.
Process:
- Deliver appropriate assurance through quality audit reports supported by appropriate audit evidence.
- Manage or execute Audits in alignment with
- IA methodology and IIA standards and ensure methodology efficiencies are identified
- Manage audits of medium to high complexity and/or design an execute fieldwork on a complex area as an audit team member.
- Ensure the SAD / AD is appraised of any significant audit issues (this includes audit progress, challenges arising and issues) in a timely manner.
People:
- Ensure effective constructive management and leadership of audit teams is provided.
- Drive effective development, performance, and management of team members.
- Motivate, guide and direct staff on audits to ensure achievement of developmental initiatives and promote effective teamwork.
- Reflect on own performance and the performance of the team, by completing assignment appraisals as required at the conclusion of each audit.
- Compile and keep up to date own performance and development plans. Solicit and act on development and performance feedback.
What will you bring?
- Experience in managing medium sized audit or risk teams working on medium to high complexity and profile reviews, coupled with some banking & finance industry knowledge. Strong track record in delivering high quality audit work in complex technical areas.
- Tertiary qualified, ideally with Professional (CPA/CA) and / or Post Graduate qualifications with technically relevant skills (i.e. accounting, audit, credit risk, technology) depending on the audit portfolio the Senior Audit Manager is working in.
- Some experience in developing people in a project team context and in setting clear performance expectations and providing clear feedback against these. Experience in supporting change and overcoming resistance to change.
- Track record in understanding key stakeholders in an audit process and building relationships with them. Experience working with and influencing senior managers in the business.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent listening and interpreting skills.
- Good negotiating, influencing and conflict management skills.
