About the Role
The Senior Audit Lead – Group Operations is responsible for leading complex and high-risk audits across Retail & Business & Private Bank Operations, delivering independent third-line assurance over the effectiveness of governance, risk management and controls.
Reporting to the Audit Director – Retail & Business & Private Bank Operations & Third Party, the role plans and executes operations audits, including complex and thematic assurance activity relating to Third Party risks and Physical Security. The role contributes evidence-based assessments of control effectiveness, operational resilience and service reliability.
The role works closely with audit teams and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality audit outcomes in accordance with Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards, while contributing specialist operational risk insight and supporting a strong speak-up culture.

What will your day look like?
As Senior Audit Lead – Group Operations, core accountabilities include:

Led complex, high-risk audits across Retail and Business & Private Bank Operations, including Critical Operations (CPS 230), Third Party risks, and Physical Security

Delivered end-to-end audit assurance aligned to the Internal Audit plan, coordinating with value-chain audit teams across portfolios.

Managed audit delivery within timelines and budgets, ensuring efficient resource utilisation, disciplined execution, and timely escalation of risks.

Contributed to annual audit planning by providing insights on key risks, emerging issues, and assurance coverage priorities.

Drove effective risk identification and audit scoping, focusing on material service delivery, resilience, and control risks without compromising assurance quality.

Applied Internal Audit methodology, GAIS, and Non-Financial Risk frameworks to ensure robust risk assessment and high-quality audit outcomes.

Leveraged data analytics and AI to enhance audit planning, testing, insight generation, and overall efficiency.

Engaged senior stakeholders throughout audit delivery, ensuring findings and recommendations were clear, value-driven, and aligned to control effectiveness and service reliability.

Led, coached, and developed audit teams, fostering a strong speak-up culture and promoting integrity, accountability, and constructive challenge.

Supported Internal Audit strategic initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement in audit quality, methodology, and execution practices.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring the following:
- Strong expertise in internal audit methodology, evidence standards, and issue validation
- Solid understanding of Group Operations, processes, controls, and dependencies
- Proven ability to assess conduct, regulatory, fraud, and transaction risks
- Experience in Third Party risk and thematic audit frameworks
- Exposure to physical security assurance and emerging risk identification
- Track record of delivering complex audits with strong outcomes
- Effective stakeholder engagement and clear communication of audit insights
- Data-driven approach using analytics for audit scoping and testing
- Ability to support team development and promote a speak-up culture
- Exposure to remediation, operational, and transformation audits
- Relevant audit/risk qualifications (CPA, CA, CIA or equivalent)
