About the Role


As a Senior Advisor, Operational Risk & Resilience, you will play a key role in strengthening ANZ’s operational and resilience risk capability across our Technology division. Working as a trusted first line risk partner, you will support and coordinate risk assessments, regulatory and policy changes, governance activities, and control uplift initiatives. You will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to embed effective and sustainable risk controls, provide meaningful risk insights, and help foster a strong risk and compliance culture across the business.

What will your day look like?

 

 

As a Senior Advisor, Operational Risk & Resilience, you will:

 

  • Lead and coordinate operational and resilience risk assessments across business processes, systems, data and end-to-end value chains.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor the operational risk and resilience for Group Technology, including Third-Party Risk Management and other operational resilience risk themes 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to design, uplift and embed sustainable risk controls aligned to enterprise frameworks and regulatory expectations.
  • Review control design and effectiveness, identify gaps and support remediation activities.
  • Support regulatory and policy change by conducting impact assessments and partnering with the business to implement required changes.
  • Analyse risk data, indicators and emerging trends to provide actionable insights that support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare materials and insights for governance forums, assurance activities and senior stakeholder discussions.
  • Collaborate with Line 2 Risk and Centre of Excellence teams to ensure alignment of risk expectations and governance requirements.
  • Promote a strong risk culture through coaching, guidance, stakeholder partnership and advocacy of sound risk management practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk frameworks, methodologies, tools and ways of working.

 

What will you bring?

 

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

 

  • Strong experience in operational risk, resilience risk, non-financial risk or related risk management disciplines within financial services or a complex regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding and experience in Third-Party Risk Management. Experience across additional operational risk and resilience risk theme would be a distinct advantage
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks, evaluate controls and identify risk themes and insights.
  • Strong understanding of risk and control design, control effectiveness, and assurance concepts.
  • Strong ability to apply operational and resilience risk expertise pragmatically within business contexts
  • Sound understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, governance and assurance practices.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, control reviews and remediation activities.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory obligations, policy requirements and change management principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, assess risks and provide meaningful insights.
  • Experience using reporting and analytics tools such as ServiceNow, Qlik Sense, Tableau and/or Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across diverse teams.
  • The ability to translate risk and regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.
  • A proactive, risk-based mindset with strong judgement and a focus on achieving sustainable outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in technology, business, law, risk or a related discipline. Professional risk, compliance or analytics certifications will be highly regarded.
