About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

About the Role

The Security Partner supports ANZ’s cyber security objectives by working with delivery teams to ensure security is considered and applied across the lifecycle of technology solutions.

In this role, you will act as a Security Advisor aligned to delivery and solution design, working closely with engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure technology solutions are designed with appropriate security controls and a clear understanding of information security risk.

You will combine technical expertise with practical advisory capability, supporting initiatives from early design through to delivery by identifying exposures and advising teams on secure, pragmatic solutions.

Banking is changing and we’re changing with it, giving our people great opportunities to try new things, learn and grow. Whatever your role at ANZ, you’ll be building your future, while helping to build ours.

Role Type: Permanent
Role Location: Melbourne
Work Hours: Full-Time

What will your day look like?

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide senior security advisory across complex initiatives, guiding teams through design decisions involving multiple systems and integrations
  • Lead security design reviews for initiatives with higher ambiguity or complexity, identifying systemic risks and control considerations
  • Work closely with solution architects and engineering leads to shape secure architecture approaches across identity, data, network, and integration layers
  • Support and guide junior Security Partners in analysing designs and improving security outcomes
  • Evaluate and interpret security risks across end‑to‑end solution designs, helping teams understand broader exposure and downstream implications
  • Drive alignment with enterprise security standards and architecture, identifying where patterns apply or where context‑specific decisions are required
  • Represent security in governance and risk discussions, articulating risk, trade-offs, and recommended actions to enable informed decision-making
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of security patterns, guidance, and practices based on delivery insights

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • 8+ years of experience across cybersecurity, engineering, or architecture roles
  • Strong experience in security architecture and design, with the ability to apply security principles across complex, distributed systems
  • Deep understanding of security domains, including identity and access management, network security, data protection, and cryptography
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyse multi‑component architectures, including cloud, APIs, integrations, and hybrid environments
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate security risks and trade-offs across system designs
  • Experience guiding teams through secure design decisions and risk mitigation approaches
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence engineers, architects, and delivery leads
  • Ability to operate in environments with moderate to high ambiguity, providing structured guidance and clarity
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other security practitioners

    Desirable:

  • Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP in complex environments
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture or security design frameworks
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments
