About the Role

 

This role coordinates and supports the effective management of non-financial risk (NFR) first line of defence for the distribution segments within the Business & Private Bank (B&PB) division and activities align to enterprise risk management standards and regulatory obligations. 

 

The role undertakes first line of defense activities including risk profile monitoring, risk assessments, monitoring and uplifting the control environment with a lens of the end-to-end customer journey. You will work closely with the Risk Manager, Distribution, business teams and cross-divisional teams to ensure accurate documentation, follow-up on actions, and consistent application of risk management and governance activities.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Support and co-ordinate robust first line of defence non financial risk management practices across B&PB distribution segments.  
  • Support the interpretation and practical application of Group Risk policies, standards, and regulatory obligations into business language and articulate the value to the business.     
  • Support and co-ordinate risk profiles, appetite, assessments, and controls are accurate, transparent, embedded, and aligned with enterprise and regulatory standards.   
  • Support the delivery of actionable insights on distribution segment risk profile, risk issues, and control environment with a strong focus on the end-to-end customer journey
  • Support divisional attestations, regulatory change, risk assessments, KRIs and control testing. 
  • Partner with Group Risk, Line 2, Line 3, Centres of Excellence (COE) and frontline leaders to ensure end-to-end ownership and strengthening of non financial risk.   
  • Partner with business areas to support them in delivering their own risk management accountabilities (e.g. changes, events, treatments, control design, risk forums) via provision of input, expertise, coaching and guidance. 
  • Support the escalations to Risk Owners, Centres of Expertise, or cross-divisional teams where frameworks or policies are ineffective.   

What will you bring?

 

  • Practical knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory obligations for Compliance Risk NFR themes. 
  • Ability to apply risk expertise in business and operational contexts to support teams and processes. 
  • Capability in risk analytics, tooling, and data to identify risks, assess control effectiveness and support risk insights. 
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and control design.
  • Experience supporting the embedding of risk frameworks in financial services environments. 
  • Ability to translate risk assessments, data, and insights into actionable risk mitigation or control uplift initiatives. 
  • Understanding of controls design, assurance, and testing including identification of gaps or weaknesses. 
  • Ability to take pragmatic, risk-based approaches to support execution of initiatives. 
  • Experience supporting preparation of advice or materials for senior leaders or risk committees.
