About the Role


 

As a Risk Manager Acquisitions Valuations in our Retail Risk team, you have a responsibility for credit originations acquisition policy and strategies to maximise operational efficiencies whilst optimising bad debt charge and ROE across commercial portfolios through acquisition quality measurement, monitoring and reporting mechanisms used by Risk to support the business in understanding the segmented dynamics of business written and performance via vintage, including insights into actions.

What will your day look like?

 

This role is accountable for:
 

 

  • Support the Valuations Lead in translating the Commercial strategy into desired initiatives
  • Development and implementation of Valuations Acquisition policy and strategies that are geared towards balancing the trade-offs across customer experience, credit automation/process simplification, new business writing/revenue growth, and managing loss exposure
  • Contributing to performance conversations with an operational and strategic focus, to ensure the appropriate dialog
  • Delivering an agreed work plan across Valuations Acquisition Strategies that is aligned to operational strategies and deliver the greatest benefit to the wider organisation
  • Assisting with prioritisation of tasks and projects to ensure optimal resource usage and business benefit and supporting effective management of workloads, without compromising quality of deliverables
  • Promote opportunities in strategy development that directly contribute to the ongoing improvement of valuations simplification and efficiency of operational process and business requirements via the use of automation and decision strategies 
  • Support projects to rationalise, simplify, and improve valuation policy deployment, valuations acquisition front end strategy, and process
  • Lead a team of analysts, provide technical advice, technical training and coaching to team members
  • Build rapport with internal and external stakeholders for effective collaboration and promote opportunities for both retail and commercial portfolios to agree, prioritise and support appropriate actions across technology, business, vendors and risk
  • Support effective management of workloads and quality of deliverables
  • Support career development including reward and recognition assessments and performance management (as required) 
  • Support regulatory engagements, including those of a BAU nature, with relevant insights and updates on key topics and commitments made
  • Identify trends, risks, issues and opportunities; resolve them and/or report escalate as required

What will you bring?


 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

 

•    Strong analytical, numerical, research and problem-solving proven ability to turn data into information and information into actionable business decision strategy.
•    Proven technical capabilities and experience with data analytics/science and/or decision systems techniques and tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, PowerCurve, AbInitio, etc.).
•    Proven ability to design, enhance and work with reporting sources.
•    Extensive experience in risk management, with extensive cross-functional and cross-portfolio strategy experience. 
•    Skilled at the use of facts in discussions and communication with staff and peers. 
•    Strong ability to communicate up (one level above) and amongst peer groups.
•    Excellence in presenting highly complex problems and processes in simple terms that are easily consumed by a broad range of stakeholders, adjusting the level of messaging to suit the audience.
•    Effective people and project management skills - with the ability to motivate analysts. 
•    Ability to deliver clear and concise messages, with logically structured flow.
•    Demonstrated financial skills in portfolio management. 
•    Solid people and project management skills - with the ability to motivate and manage one or more analyst(s).  
•    Excellence in being able to ruthlessly prioritise the things that matter, continuously questioning the relative value of planned an unplanned work. Ability to be agile whilst staying true to the agreed core priorities.
