About the Role
Join ANZ Plus, as a Principal Machine Learning Engineer. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and deploying the capabilities to support machine learning models to enhance our digital banking services and improve customer engagement. You will work closely with various teams, including other engineers, product, marketing, and customer service, to deliver innovative solutions that drive our business forward.
What will your day look like?
- Establish the platform capabilities that allow for consistently developed and operated ML workloads by distributed engineering functions
- Simplify and automate the process for life cycle management of ML solutions
- Partner with leadership to develop an AI/ML strategy and roadmap to improve customer support and banking services.
- Lead the development of ML processes that integrate seamlessly into ANZ's digital platforms.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver identified opportunities.
- Build and deploy machine learning models, ensuring a strong understanding of end-to-end machine learning pipelines and components.
- Identify, track, and remediate data quality issues, ensuring high data reliability, quality, and security.
- Follow agile software development practices, including test-driven development, continuous delivery, and pair programming.
- Share responsibility for all operational aspects of the software, supporting a "you build it; you run it" philosophy.
What will you bring?

- More than 5 years of industry experience in a machine learning/software engineering role.
- Experience with industry-level high-scale ML systems.
- Strong coding proficiency in Python and familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Langchain, and Huggingface.
- Experience with RAG architectures and a strong understanding of computer science/engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to set medium to long-term vision for the team in the AI space.
- Experience with devops tools and techniques, particularly CloudFormation, Terraform, GCP, and Docker.
- Experience with building and running computer vision ML models and designing automated ML pipelines.
- Ability to manage competing demands of multiple projects in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in SQL, R, C#, or other programming languages.
- Experience with modern software development techniques such as microservice architecture and continuous delivery.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Looker
- Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Understanding of cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform.
