About the Role
As a Senior Manager, Group Insurance, you will be part of a team who is responsible for the strategic direction, purchase and management of ANZ’s global corporate insurance program, as directed by the Head of Group Insurance. In your role you will interact across a wide range of business activities as well as collaborate with senior executives and liaise with Board and Executive committees.
The Group Insurance (GI) function fulfils critical responsibilities for the bank, including:
- Managing and governing ANZ’s Global Insurance Program.
- Ensuring the bank obtains market leading and cost-effective protection against current and emerging insurable risks.
- Overseeing the engagement and governance of insurance-related service providers, including external brokers and insurers.
- Supporting Executive Committee reporting, strategic projects, and delivering specialist training across the bank.
- Providing general insurance advice to internal stakeholders to ensure well informed operational decisions across the Group.

What will your day look like?
As Senior Manager, Group Insurance, you will:
- Assist in the placement, renewal, and ongoing maintenance of ANZ’s global insurance program, including multinational policies.
- Ensure the bank achieves cost‑effective, fit‑for‑purpose coverage by continuously optimising policy structures in line with evolving business needs, emerging risks, and global market conditions.
- Maintain the sound governance of all ANZ insurance arrangements by ensuring strict compliance with internal policies, ANZ risk frameworks, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Deliver measurable financial, operational, and strategic benefits by effectively engaging ANZ’s global insurance suppliers including brokers, external insurers, and ANZ’s captive insurance company, to secure superior risk transfer outcomes.
- Lead the coordination and management of ANZ’s insurance claims, working closely with internal stakeholders, external lawyers, and insurers. Ensure claims are prepared, lodged, and negotiated effectively to maximise recoveries and minimise financial impact to the bank.
- Represent ANZ to the global insurance market through positive, proactive engagement with corporate insurers. Present ANZ’s risk profile, controls, and strategic direction in a way that differentiates the bank as a high‑quality, well‑managed risk, strengthening its standing as an insurer’s partner of choice.
- Support the management and oversight of ANZ’s captive insurance company by coordinating Board submissions, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the captive manager meets all compliance, operational, and financial obligations.
- Provide insurance advice to senior management, business units, and global territories, ensuring decisions are informed by robust risk and insurance insights. Contribute thought leadership and strategic planning to help shape the bank’s broader risk‑transfer strategy and guide business initiatives.
- Deliver specialist insurance expertise across the Group in relation to new and existing contracts, M&A activity, investment opportunities, and other growth initiatives.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
- Strong knowledge and experience in the corporate insurance sector, including exposure to multinational program structures
- Tertiary qualification in risk, legal or banking/finance or equivalent experience gained within a complex financial institution with mature risk management frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and lead outcomes across senior stakeholder groups
- Self‑motivated, accountable, and able to work effectively both autonomously and as a collaborative member of a high‑performing team
- Customer focused and solutions oriented
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and sound business acumen
- Strong communication and project management skills
