About the role
This position has been created to improve and protect the value of ANZ’s business and reputation by helping to administer ANZ’s social and environmental sustainability target.
The work undertaken in this role takes place against the background of increasingly high levels of social, government, investor and customer scrutiny of the bank’s ESG policies and statements, particularly focused on our response to climate change and human rights-related issues.
What could your day look like?
Supporting the administration of ANZ’s $100 billion social and environmental sustainability target including:
- Ensuring all aspects of the target are well governed and documented
- Maintaining the target SharePoint register and ensuring eligible deals are entered into the register by liaising with business units and frontline staff
- Liaising with target steering group representatives, including through quarterly meetings, to facilitate verifying that deals are eligible to count towards the target. Preparing agendas and minutes for these meetings
- Monitoring internal communications channels for announcements of possible eligible deals, raising awareness of the target within the bank, and tracking global developments in this area
- Quarterly reporting of progress against the target, including external reporting at the half year, and working with ANZ’s external assurance partner for full year external reporting on progress.
You may also be involved in the design and administration of other similar targets that emerge.
What will be in your toolkit?
- Record of achievement in a similar role or role requiring similar skills
- Experience in research and data analysis
- Data reformatting and data presentation skills (Excel)
- Excellent analytical, writing and communications skills, including the ability to understand and simplify complex matters involving different areas
- Ability to map preferred actions or a path forward from ambiguity or where there are not ‘right’ options
- Strong relationship and networking skills to engage internal stakeholders on deals that could count towards the target. Coupled with the ability to influence for desired outcomes
- Excellent understanding of financial services and its operating environment
- Proactive thinker, able to anticipate and identify emerging ESG trends which may become more important for the bank
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail, results focus with project management and problem solving skills
- Tertiary qualification in economics, banking or finance.
