About the Role

 

Organisational change is a major driver of non-financial risk within the bank. The Strategic Change Oversight team provide independent oversight and challenge of how ANZ manages change in its most strategically material programs to enable early detection, management and remediation of risk throughout the change lifecycle.

 

The Manager, Strategic Change Oversight supports the Senior Manager, Strategic Change Oversight through the provision of independent second line risk analysis, oversight support and risk insight across strategically material program(s).

 

The role contributes to identification, assessment and monitoring of material risks arising from strategic change and supports effective governance and decision making within established risk frameworks, escalation pathways and delegated authority.

What will your day look like?

 

  • Support second line risk oversight of the program across design, build and implementation phases, applying a risk-based and proportionate approach.
  • Assist in assessing material operational, compliance, technology, conduct and delivery risks associated with the program.
  • Support evaluation of the adequacy and sustainability of governance, risk management and control arrangements supporting the program.
  • Provide constructive, evidence-based challenge to first line program leadership on risk decisions, trade-offs and delivery risks.
  • Support escalation of concerns where risk exposures increase or remediation progress is insufficient.
  • Assist in preparation of clear Line 2 Voice of Risk insights for Steering Committees and Executive forums.
  • Contribute to structured risk assessments, deep dives and thematic insights aligned to key program milestones and risk inflection points.
  • Prepare high-quality written risk reporting that supports informed decision making and transparency.
  • Support effective risk governance through participation in relevant program governance forums and working groups.
  • Monitor risk commitments, actions and remediation activity, ensuring timely escalation of delays or slippage.
  • Ensure oversight activity is appropriately documented and defensible.
  • Build strong working relationships with program teams, Line 1 risk owners, Compliance, Assurance and other second line teams.

What will you bring?

 

  • Experience supporting second line risk oversight or risk assurance for complex change or transformation initiatives within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end operational risk management, including risk identification, assessment, issue management, escalation and governance across program lifecycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and articulate material risks using sound judgement and a risk-based, proportionate approach.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear, executive-ready risk insights.
  • Proven ability to engage constructively with stakeholders in environments characterised by delivery pressure and competing priorities, while maintaining independence.
