About the Role
As a Manager in our Non Financial Risk and Governance team, you’ll play a key role in helping to ensure that ANZ meets its risk and governance obligations by supporting the CRO Australia in governance, oversight, and reporting of Credit and Non-Financial risks across Australia Retail and Australia Commercial divisions. This role will provide strategic and analytical support to the CRO Australia and the Operational Risk & Compliance leadership team, enhancing and enabling 2nd line’s role in Non-Financial risk (NFR) management by translating executive priorities into actionable insights, reporting, and uplift initiatives—balancing high-level context with hands-on execution.

What will your day look like?
Role accountabilities:
- Risk Insight & Reporting
• Design and automate reporting solutions that enhance day-to-day risk management and decision-making.
• Track and analyse monthly changes in the NFR risk profile, working with 2nd line teams to understand and assess context, impact, and associated actions.
• Interpret risk data to identify thematic trends and emerging issues, and translate these into clear, actionable insights.
• Engage across all levels—from operators to executives—to gather context, validate insights, and ensure outputs are impactful.
- Strategic Engagement & Advisory Support
• Support the CRO and senior risk leaders by identifying and delivering uplift opportunities in operational risk and compliance practices.
• Prepare monthly briefings for the CRO on NFR matters, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with executive priorities.
- Governance & Executive Reporting
• Lead the biannual preparation of Divisional NFR updates for the Board, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and strategic focus.
• Review monthly Divisional NFR updates and quarterly OREC submissions, collaborating with 1st and 2nd line teams.
• Coordinate and track Voice of Risk contributions to ensure consistency and completeness in Executive reporting.
- Team Collaboration & Capability Uplift
• Mentor and support team members working on Risk Appetite and Credit Risk, fostering collaboration and building analytical and reporting capability across the team.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly and accurately explain complex matters to executive and board-level audiences.
• Ability to prepare and review high-quality executive and board reporting, ensuring clarity, alignment, and strategic relevance.
• Experience in risk, compliance, legal, or Company Secretary functions (or equivalent), with a strong understanding of governance and reporting expectations.
• Strong data capability with demonstrated ability to extract insights from multiple data sources and automate reporting solutions.
• High numerical and financial acumen to interpret and articulate business performance and risk trends.
• Familiarity with the NFR Hub and its application in second line risk oversight and reporting.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships across a wide range of stakeholders—from operators to executives—and influence or negotiate change.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.
• Experience across multiple components of the credit lifecycle or equivalent business-level exposure.
• Strong understanding of Non-Financial risk, including use of NFR Hub to source data and insights
• Broad understanding of retail and commercial banking, including the interdependencies between acquisitions, portfolio management, collections, capital, operational and compliance risk, and the regulatory landscape.
