About the Role
The role provides technical consultation supporting the design, availability and performance of mainframe networking.
The incumbent must have an extensive knowledge of mainframe networking.
The role requires constant liaison with other technical support areas including PSSC (Production Services Support Centre) to provide effective service to customers. There is a further requirement to provide 24X7 on call system support on a rostered basis.
What will your day look like?
- Responsible for day-to-day functions including:

- Engineer and support TCP/IP across multiple LPARs.
- Maintain TCP/IP profiles, configuration, and stack standardisation.
- Design and support VIPA, DVIPA, routing, and sysplex-aware networking.
- Support VTAM, APPN, Enterprise Extender and OSA connectivity in collaboration with enterprise network teams.
- Diagnose and resolve cross-platform connectivity issues.
- Manage RACF certificates from a network connectivity perspective.
- Support secure file transfer and encrypted network services.
- Perform packet tracing and advanced diagnostics.
- Ensure effective software solutions are in place to allow future development and exploitation of high availability solutions.
- Provide input into technology project resource estimations
What will you bring?
- High level of skill in mainframe VTAM network administration
- Knowledge of IBM’s z/OS operating system.
- Experience with network tracing utilities.
- Knowledge in z/OSMF Network Configuration Assistant with skills in configuring IPSec and AT-TLS policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and build good working relationships with customers, peers, staff, vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven Customer Focus and advocate of the business needs.
- Strong oral & written communication skills, enabling easy interaction at many levels within ANZ.
- Understanding of the business & proven ability to translate business requirements into high-quality cost-effective solutions.
- Proven record in implementing and supporting technology services and driving change to effect substantial business value improvements.
- Strong organisational and commercial acumen, pragmatic, business approach to technological challenges.
