About the Role

As a Lead Quality Engineer you’ll play a key role in helping to coach, guide, and contribute to rapid delivery of large pieces of work spanning multiple teams. This role consists of senior quality engineers who drive the right engineering practices, standards and engineering ways of working within a squad or group of squads.

What will your day look like?

As a Lead Quality Engineer, you are accountable to:


•  Champion modern best practices & techniques related to Quality Engineering, Test automation and Performance engineering. 
•   Understand customer needs and ensuring test approach are fit-for-purpose
•   Design test strategy and optimising test execution across  the entire spectrum of testing (functional and non-functional)
•   Work on the latest tools and technology to continuously improve test outcomes
•   Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive innovations across teams
•   Work with other test engineers, tribes and business units to build testing community of practice; improve overall software quality including adherence to coding standards, testing standards, and related development practices 
•   Coach engineers and peers to have a test driven development approaches 
•   Work with the Architects, Engineers and Performance engineering teams to drive performance & volume testing approach and solution
•   Drive the engineering culture and mindset across squads and within the chapter

 

Within ANZx we have a ‘you build it, you run it’ culture. So for the products and platforms you help build, you’ll get to take ownership for ensuring they launch and run smoothly for our customers, giving you real exposure to the full lifecycle. To support this, our Engineers may need to operate during non-standard hours, ensuring continued service and/or being available to support technical outages.

 

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Ability to communicate and create shared clarity with business and technology leaders.

  • Expertise in building and maintaining API test suites and mocks across multiple microservices.

  • Ability to design and implement a CI/CD pipeline using Github Actions or similar

  • Hands on experience building and deploying services running on Kubernetes or other cloud runtimes.

  • Expert level in at least 1 programming language, we primarily use Golang but are happy to support your learning.

  • Experience working in a continuous delivery environment.

  • A working knowledge of performance and volume testing.
