About the Role
To provide legal support to ANZ’s Institutional Division by providing business-oriented advice and solutions. The role sits within the Corporate Banking & Institutional Legal Group Services (ilgS) team which supports the Corporate Banking business and the Institutional business globally on higher volume lower risk matters. The successful candidate will also support credit, risk, compliance, and enablement partners of supported business areas.

Role Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Melbourne or Sydney
What will your day look like?
Drafting documents – drafting, amending, and negotiating facility documents and documents relevant to customer accounts, including consent letters and other notices.
Advising on documents – advising on ANZ's rights and obligations under facility documents, including letter of offer documentation, facility agreements, securities and guarantees.
Reviewing documents – reviewing documents to facilitate the provision of banking and financial services, including non-disclosure agreements, authority documents and support letters.
Providing legal advice – providing high quality, strategic, commercially relevant, and timely advice on legal and regulatory issues and risks arising in connection with transactions and business operations and providing advice on mitigants.
Liaising with external counsel – instructing external counsel or assisting the business to instruct external counsel with a view to ensuring delivery of cost-effective and high-quality legal services.
Strategic objectives – participating in internal projects and assisting the business to achieve their strategic objectives.
Templates and guides – developing and maintaining legal documentation, templates, guides, and checklists.
In addition, the responsibilities will include building and maintaining excellent relationships across the legal team, the business and other stakeholders and contributing positively to the timely and efficient delivery of products and services to customers and helping to achieve business and customer objectives.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

At least 2 years’ post qualification legal experience from either:
-
a top tier Australian law firm (or equivalent foreign law firm) with experience in banking and finance law; and/or
-
an authorised deposit-taking institution or listed financial institution

Demonstrated transactional banking and finance skills
-
Demonstrated experience in the provision of technically excellent, strategic and solutions orientated legal advice

Proven ability to exercise excellent judgement in the identification and management of risks
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good attention to detail
-
Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and in a changing environment in an accurate, calm and timely manner with the ability to reprioritise work to meet changing demands

Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to liaise and collaborate effectively with business and other stakeholders

Strong team ethic and growth mindset
