About the Role

 

The Home Loan Assurance Manager is responsible for providing independent first-line assurance across Home Loans Portfolio, helping ensure that customer, regulatory, operational and risk obligations are effectively managed.

 

The role leads assurance reviews across the Home Loan value chain, identifying control weaknesses, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement. Working closely with business leaders, Risk teams and Assurance stakeholders, the role supports better customer outcomes, stronger risk management and sustainable control environments across Home Lending.

 

This role will assist with the delivery of assurance activities across the PACT (People, Accountability, Customers and Trust) program, alongside input into Single Customer Front End (SCFE) transformation and Suncorp Integration Program, providing independent insight into the effectiveness of risk management, controls and customer outcomes within Home Loans.

What will your day look like?

 

Assurance Delivery

  • Execute a risk-based assurance plan covering key Home Loan products, processes, controls and customer journeys.
  • Lead assurance reviews across origination, servicing, hardship, remediation, broker channels and supporting operations.
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of controls and identify control gaps, emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure assurance activities are completed to agreed quality standards and within required timeframes.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based findings and practical recommendations.

 

Risk & Control Uplift

  • Provide independent challenge to the effectiveness of risk management practices and control environments.
  • Identify thematic issues, root causes and systemic risks impacting Home Loans.
  • Monitor management actions and ensure issues are remediated effectively.
  • Support uplift activities to strengthen operational resilience, conduct, compliance and customer outcomes.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with Home Loans leaders, Product Governance, Risk, Compliance and Assurance stakeholders.
  • Influence outcomes through constructive challenge and evidence-based insights.
  • Communicate assurance findings clearly to senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Support senior stakeholders in understanding assurance outcomes and required actions.

 

Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare high-quality assurance reports, management summaries and executive insights.
  • Provide reporting on assurance outcomes, themes, issue trends and remediation progress.
  • Support governance forums through insights, risk assessments and assurance updates.
  • Maintain compliance with assurance standards, methodologies and quality requirements.

 

Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and customer focus.
  • Coach and support assurance professionals to build capability and consistency.
  • Promote strong risk culture and effective challenge across Home Loans.

What will you bring?


To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Ability to analyse complex information and identify key risks and themes.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience using data to support assurance conclusions and recommendations.
  • Relevant experience providing operational risk, compliance and assurance expertise
  • Experience working in a highly regulated, closely oversighted business and developing and managing excellent stakeholder relationships
  • High level of comfort working with ambiguity and being able to make sense of complex issues and define a way forward
  • Experience within Home Loans, Product Governance or Lending Operations.
  • Experience in regulatory remediation or transformation programs.
  • Knowledge of APRA, ASIC and consumer protection regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using assurance analytics and data visualisation tools.
  • Professional qualification in risk, audit, accounting or governance disciplines.
