Req ID:  106717

About Us

At ANZ, we're shaping a world where people and communities thrive, driven by a common goal: to improve the financial wellbeing and sustainability of our millions of customers.

This is a decisive moment shaped by growth ambition and the need to win customer preference at scale. Under the ANZ 2030 strategy, the bank is focused on accelerating growth in Australia Retail, simplifying how we operate and lifting execution discipline where it has the greatest impact. Clear choices are being made about where to compete and invest, with trust and customer preference recognised as the foundations of sustainable growth. This is an organisation in active transformation—pace is high, accountability is explicit and results matter. Marketing sits at the centre of this agenda, translating strategy into growth by shaping demand, earning trust and turning customer insight into competitive advantage.

About the Role

The Head of Marketing – Segments and Retail Products is a senior marketing leadership role with divisional scope and influence. This is a career‑defining role for a leader who wants to shape the future of retail marketing strategy through a deeply customer‑led, segment‑first growth model.

The role operates across a matrix of Retail Products and Customer Segments, with accountability to balance and integrate both. The Head of Marketing – Segments and Retail Products must actively manage resources, priorities, and investment across product portfolios (Deposits, Payments, Unsecured Lending and Wealth) while anchoring decisions in the highest‑value segment opportunities.

The role is accountable for defining, prioritising and evolving customer segment marketing strategies, and for translating those strategies into aligned portfolio priorities, clear propositions and positioning, and high‑impact go‑to‑market plans. This requires a leader who can bring together segment insight, product performance targets and go‑to‑market execution into a single, coherent growth agenda. Success in the role depends on the ability to align teams around shared outcomes, rather than optimise for segments or products in isolation.

You will operate as a trusted partner to senior leaders across Segment, Product, Customer Proposition, Data, Technology and Digital, shaping both near‑term performance and longer‑term growth.

This is a role for a leader who can:

  • Anchor growth strategy in deep segment understanding and everyday banking product expertise
  • Balance strategic clarity with decisive execution
  • Lead through complexity, change and transformation
  • Influence at executive level and represent marketing as a driver of customer‑led growth

A critical focus of the role is leading marketing’s contribution to ANZ’s digital transformation, ensuring our Brand is reflected consistently across digital journeys, external positioning and lifecycle engagement.

Banking is changing, and so are we. At ANZ, you’ll be encouraged to challenge convention and help shape the future of Retail Banking—while building your own leadership legacy.

Role Type: Permanent, Full‑time
Role Location: Melbourne

What will your day look like?

As Head of Marketing – Segment and Retail Products, you will:

  • Lead enterprise‑level segment marketing strategy, ensuring ANZ competes for growth
  • Translate segment insight into portfolio priorities, ensuring propositions and investment align to the highest‑value customer opportunities
  • Shape segment and product proposition development and go‑to‑market sequencing in partnership with Segments, Product, Digital and Technology leaders
  • Be accountable for segment and product marketing-attributable growth outcomes
  • Own the marketing investment strategy and budget, prioritising spend across segments to maximise commercial return
  • Lead marketing’s role in ANZs digital transformation agenda, activating our Master Brand strategy
  • Represent Marketing in senior leadership forums, influencing strategic decisions on where the organisation places its growth bets
  • Lead and develop a marketing team accountable for Segments and Retail Products, building capability in insight, proposition design and lifecycle thinking, and the delivery of growth outcomes
  • Lead through ambiguity and change, balancing delivery with continuous improvement and capability uplift

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Senior marketing leadership experience in complex, matrixed organisations, with accountability for large customer portfolios or segments
  • A strong track record of segment and every day banking product growth, translating customer insight into measurable commercial outcomes
  • Deep commercial acumen, with experience prioritising investment by customer opportunity and return
  • Proven change and transformation leadership, operating confidently through ambiguity and evolving priorities
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at executive and board‑adjacent levels
  • Experience leading marketing in regulated environments, balancing growth with risk and governance
  • Background in segment and/or product marketing, ideally within Financial Services or similarly complex industries
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, Strategy or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
