About the Role
As the Head of Diversified Credit, Group Risk - Business & Private Bank, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of the Retail SME and Wholesale Credit Risk portfolios. Leading the Line 2 Diversified Credit function, you will provide independent oversight and challenge, ensuring risk is managed effectively while supporting sustainable business growth and customer success.
This is an opportunity to influence strategy at scale, strengthen the bank's risk culture, and drive innovation across credit risk frameworks, governance and portfolio management. You will work alongside senior executives to balance growth and resilience, elevate risk practices, and lead transformational change that enhances decision quality, operational effectiveness and long-term value creation.

What will your day look like?
As a Head of Diversified Credit, you are accountable for:
- Leading the Diversified Credit line of business within the Business and Private Bank function.
- Providing strategic leadership and setting direction for credit risk management and portfolio quality across Wholesale and Retail SME portfolios.
- Overseeing credit decisioning frameworks, governance, and stakeholder engagement across business and risk leadership.
- Driving risk culture, compliance, and alignment with regulatory and internal credit policies.
- Leading senior stakeholder engagement and contributing to enterprise-wide credit strategy and performance outcomes
- Monitoring portfolio performance, emerging risks and concentrations, ensuring timely insight, intervention and escalation on material risk matters
- Driving a strong risk culture through constructive challenge, accountability and the effective application of risk management practices across the first and second lines of accountability
- Maintaining effective relationships with executive stakeholders, regulators and assurance functions, representing the bank's diversified credit risk position with credibility and influence
- Building and leading a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive culture that develops capability, enables succession and delivers sustainable enterprise outcomes

- Deep expertise in credit risk, portfolio management, and regulatory frameworks across commercial portfolios.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and governance capability.
- Proven ability to lead large teams and drive risk culture and performance outcomes.
- Demonstrates an open‑minded and adaptable approach, with the ability to adjust style, thinking and judgement to evolving business needs and credit contexts, and to align with ANZ's 2030 Strategy.

- Tertiary qualification in Banking, Finance, Accounting or Economics (desirable)
