Role Type: Permanent, Full-Time opportunity (40 hours/week)
The Governance Manager will be accountable for supporting the embedding and operationalising the framework for Risk Governance Across the Retail Division. To achieve this we need great people to join our Controls and Customer Outcome Portfolio.
The purpose of this role is to:
- Support an effective end to end risk governance process operates within the retail division, supporting effective risk management activities;
- Support the Controls and Customer Outcomes Portfolio with the effectiveness and operation of key decision making forums.
- Act as Risk Governance contact for leaders across the Retail Division to support in their execution of Risk Governance requirements.
- Assist the Chief of Controls and Customer Outcomes (CCO) with the preparation of formal speaking notes and executive briefings ahead of key governance meetings and strategic forums
- Delivery of continuous improvement in CCO’s governance practices.

What will your day look like?
As the Governance Manager your key accountabilities will include:
• Consolidating Governance and Reporting: Provide support in maintaining clear and consistent governance and reporting structures, ensuring quality outcomes and compliance with internal standards.
• Review and Support of Governance Papers: Support the review of critical governance documents, including Board reports, ExCo papers, and Risk Day submissions, ensuring all documentation aligns with governance best practices and requirements.
• Forum Management and Facilitation: Provide coordination support for key risk governance forums, including Retail governance forums, assisting with agenda management, meeting organisation, follow-ups, performing quality checks of submissions and ensuring stakeholders are clear on requirements and timelines.
• Action Tracking and Reporting: Record, track, and manage actions and outcomes from various governance forums, providing updates to senior stakeholders on the progress and resolution of key actions.
• Stakeholder Management: Work closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across different business units, providing expert advice and ensuring alignment with governance standards. Foster strong working relationships to ensure effective collaboration and decision-making.
• Governance and Risk Oversight: Support the reporting and governance over key risk management activities, including managing escalations, tracking risk-related actions, and ensuring proper closure of governance processes.
• Regulatory and Internal Compliance: Provide support to ensure governance and reporting activities comply with regulatory requirements and bank policies, providing assurance that all governance actions and decisions are effectively documented and tracked.
• Executive Briefing and Support: Provide high-quality executive support to the Chief of Controls and Customer Outcomes (CCO) by preparing formal speaking notes, briefing packs, and key messaging ahead of critical governance meetings, forums, and strategic engagements. This includes synthesising complex governance materials into concise, accurate, and compelling narratives that align with risk and governance frameworks, ensuring Chief of CCO is well-prepared to represent CCO’s position effectively.
• Scrum Master Support: Help track governance deliverables, ensuring the team is aware of upcoming forums and has structured action tracking in place.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Strong experience in either Risk, Audit, Governance, Legal or Compliance.
• Demonstrate ability to manage large scale governance structures.
• Strong communication skills – exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex governance and reporting matters to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
• A strong understanding of the business, including its operational, risk and commercial aspects to support informed decision making.
• Demonstrated experience managing governance activities for official committees/forums.
• Strong demonstrable stakeholder management skills with experience engaging with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritise among competing demands
